Default LGA Base

Where do most who are LGA based live? Trying to figure out living situations. I intend on living in base.

I ask because its so expensive for an apartment right around LGA. It'd be tough on FO pay.

I would try for PIT/CMH/IND bases over LGA if you are concerned about expenses. Where are you currently living?

Texas lol. But I want to live in base. I'm interested in CMH, especially since it's become fairly JR. I don't want to be on reserve forever though.

I'd take reserve in a base that was affordable over stressing about affording 1500-2000/mo rent and holding a line.

Long Island is expensive and you need a car.

Queens is a dump and it is expensive, but you don't need a car.

NJ is expensive and a dump and you need a car and need to pay tolls to get to LaGarbage.

Having a roommate makes the cost of living easier but brings its own drawbacks.

32 years in NY. I came to this company for the LGA base and I chose to commute after a few years. Quality of life went up.

But if you insist on NY. I would choose not to have a car and live in Astoria. It's still expensive, but less of a dump and very close to LGA.

You might also consider rockland, orange, ulster, putnam, or dutchess counties in New York. All within 1.5 hours from EWR and more affordable if you rent.

CMH isn't as cheap as it used to be. The housing market is crazy hot right now and it's driving rent prices up. That being said it's a temporary bubble so shouldn't stay that way long.

What would be the cheapest most JR base right now?

If you are based in LGA, I would advise you to get a room for rent near LGA close to Vaughn College of Aeronautics in East Elmhurst. It's literally walking distance to LGA. It's a safe neighborhood with plenty of food options on Astoria Boulevard. The neighborhood of Astoria is not bad either but way overpriced plus you will need to take a bus to LGA instead of just walking there. Hope this helps,

Default EWR

Similar question, but for EWR.
I`m originally from Tahiti, hence I`m a little anxious on the whole cramped-city living situation that LGA seems to display.
I`ve never been to NJ, but seems like I could get a decent place to rent not too far out from EWR, and can drive around without the hideous traffic.
Any suggestions on specific areas to look for ?

Thanks
