If you spent 6 figures for training you just over paid.
BTW Republic is going to be in 5k for CTP course another 1k at least for hotel during that course. $3500 x 3 months pay while I sit at home. Plus the cost of hotels during that training at least 2-3k. Then a $17,500 bonus. Your looking at 35k investment before I even stepped in the door. Sure the bonus is laid out over time. But it is what it is.

Just because someone said it doesn't mean its true. I was NEVER put in a super 8 ever during training. Winngate suites with a living room, Drury inn Suite, a really nice La Quinta inn with a 55 inch LED TV and soft King size. Not sure where people are getting sub par from. Probably people who have never worked or trained a day in their life for Republic!

You were decidedly lucky then. Wait till recurrent, it’s the standard hotel for that, and I speak from experience as recently as last month.
Also, “really nice LaQuinta” isn’t a thing. I’m sorry, but it’s just not. It’s an economy hotel for people who can’t afford a Hampton. It took us years to get out of the LQ in Earth City/STL, and it was only after a crew member found a crack pipe on their headboard that we did. Not joking.
I’m not one to ***** about hotels much (I used to spend 300+ nights a year in them for my charter gig, IHG Spire Elite, Marriott Platinum, HH Diamond... got them all) but the Super Ocho is not an acceptable place to put your employees. From people being mugged in the parking lot to bedbugs to roaches to no hot water to rooms that are disgusting, the place has a long and storied history of being a dump. For the most part the places we stay on the line aren’t bad, but the training hotels are awful.

“Embracing the suck” as a carryover from the military is one of the reasons the civil aviation industry doesn’t get nice things. Just because you had camel spiders sleep with you in the service doesn’t mean you should have them now. Thank you for your service (seriously, thank you) but quit lowering the bar for how the civil sector treats its employees. It’s not even close to the same thing.

Solid mold infestation in my last room at the Super 8. Almost had to call of a trip the next week because I ended up being so congested. But yeah, sure, nobody ever gets put there for training (I spent 2 weeks there when I went through indoc) and then 2 plus weeks at the wonderful La Quinta by the dump in St Louis before they moved us because literally everybody started to get sick. Luckily, those are the only 2 hotels enough that I’ve ever felt strongly enough to complain about, and we stopped using that LQ in STL.

Aviation is the only industry I’ve ever seen where people will attack other people for pointing out a super-8 is probably a sub-par place to put professionals that have spent half a decade and six figures or more in training.
Do you think google, Boeing, mainline, or any other reputable company puts their employees, even new hires, in a super eight for training?
