Republic vs Mesa

Targeting DC domiciles (living local), no prior 121 time, rotor transition. Any advise choosing Republic over Mesa or visa versa would be much appreciated. New to all this and lots of great yet at times overwhelming info.

Honestly I don’t think you can compare the two, if your talking about living in base at both airlines. Republic has its problems, but its much better then Mesa IMHO. You would probably upgrade faster at Mesa, but your QOL would be much better at Republic.

As much as Republic blows out Mesa in terms of QOL and pay, all that means nothing if the United CCP thing really works and a Mesa with a same hire date as myself ends up at United in 3 years.

That’s a big if.

This has always been the largest drawback to Republic. They will never by their structure have a defined path to mainline. Take your chances off the street, but they are turning people down every day.

So by your comment...you believe that most new hires at mainline are from wholly owned flows?? That is not only ridiculous, but not accurate.

People are always trying to sell you on flow...just got an email today from Trans States advertising their flow program with Frontier. It's also a long shot and bunk at best sometimes. Flow is NEVER guaranteed at any airline. If economics change, flow can stop.

I still remember flight schools promising interviews and even jobs to people 10-15 years ago, to which many students were duped and lost tons of money. Don't believe everything that is sold to you and choose wisely. There are many other more important reasons to choose a regional...

What happens if you sacrifice QOL and Pay for flow and then flow stalls...now your stuck with bad QOL and low pay.

Ask anyone who has been in this industry longer than a few years...things change very quickly and often...I would never bank on anything promised a few years from now.

There are plenty of pilots getting hired at mainline and other majors from regionals like Republic. If that were not the case, hiring would slow down here and that does not appear to be the case.

To sflpilot’s defense, Republic has a 3 year upgrade and you’ll probably never see MIA. Reserve also seems to be around 4-9 months for NH.

It’s a great place to sit pretty if a major doesn’t call, but I wouldn’t plan on being there past 10 years in this market. You’d be doing yourself and your career a disservice if you did that.

PSA is a lousy product. I know first hand sadly from experience. If you want to flow to AA go with Envoy. Better planes and operation by miles and miles and miles. Same with RP. Much much better in every way than PSA.

What if I told you envoy doesnt have a base in the dc area?
