Default A month of what its like at Republic

I know nothing about working for a regional. Have only done 135 and was home every night.

What is your monthly work schedule like? How many days on the road, how often do you end up at your home base?

I know each one will be different but just give me an idea what a new hire could expect.

Trips are 1-5 days. New hires will most likely be on reserve for a few months so you will have 12 days off. I’m a junior Ca line holder and I get somewhere between 14-17 days off depending on the credit.

On reserve I did a lot of day trips. If you live in base and build a bit of seniority you can pretty easily hold 1 and 2 day trips.

My experience in CMH was pretty good. Living in base from the beginning. I've been on the line 4 months and was on reserve for a month and a half. On reserve you'll have 12 days off, no more, no less. I bid for 6 days off in a row and got that pretty easily (to non-rev and visit family). As a line holder I got 14-16 days off right away, and still was able to keep the 6 (or more) days off in a row (last month I got 8). Most pairings have been 4 or 3 days long. During a trip you are overnighting out of base. Occasionally you'll have an overnight between pairings in your base, so the number of nights you can sleep in your own bed tends to be a couple more than the number of days off you have. I'm headed to IAH next month because it'll make those trips to visit family much easier, though I'm back on reserve (that's fine by me, as I'm moving to IAH).

This Summers a bit different then the wintertime. I only was lucky to have 14 days off the pat 2 months and next month vs 16 when I had a line in the winter and spring.
I don’t commute so that also goes into your days off on the front end of trips vs the back end. I am pretty new so I didn’t have weekends off but I still didn’t mind working Thursdays - Sunday’s.

Republic doesn't seem to give a hoot about the candidates they bring in for an interview. A few people who interviewed here over the past three months were not even given as much as a courtesy "thanks but no thanks" email. What a shame.

The general ineptitude of our recruiting department is covered ad-nauseum in several other threads. This thread has nothing to do with that though.

Assigned to LGA. Finished sims third week of April. On IOE exactly 5 days later. Finished IOE in 2 weeks and had all of my reserve for May become scheduled trips. I credited just under 110 hours in my first month and was pretty tired by the end.

I ended up holding a line in June and have had over a week off at the end of this month with about 75 hours. July is going to be busier, with a 95 hour line but also 14 days off.

So far so good. I like the flying and I've enjoyed all of the crews I've flown with. The plane is terrific and even the hotels have been 99% good.

Not to hijack the thread, but I know RPA has a clause for anything over 82 or 83 hours to be paid at 125 or 150% automatically. I can't remember the specifics. But anyway... is that 82(?) hours block or credit? I'm assuming block?

It’s anything over 87 block or better + deadhead is paid at 125%. It’s honestly pretty unnoticeable paycheck wise.
