Commutair or Republic

I'm trying to decide from Commutair or Republic. I have class dates for both in April. I just recently interviewed with Commutair and was impressed with them. It looks from the outside that Republic pays better, but with the bonus structure at Commutair, they actually pay better overall. I know the plane is better at Republic, but not sure what else is. Any advice?
Also, the recruiters literally know almost nothing about what flying is like here. They're told what to say.
Almost every work rule is better in the Republic contract. Year two you would be way ahead at Republic. And their planes are nicer, and I don't mean shinier, they are legitimately nicer in almost every regard. At C5 it's a vicious cycle of being okay, and then being horribly abused, which is what's happening to captains now.

Pay close attention to captain QOL and pay. You will be a captain before you know it and you should plan to be with the company for at least 5 years. I’m on republic year 4 pay and made 90/hr and I’ll make 99 next year. I live in base so QOL isn’t bad, even on reserve. I don’t know what C5 QOL is like but I’m pretty sure they don’t make the same kind of money. When you have the responsibility of Captain, you will definitely appreciate being paid what seems adequate. Obviously we should be paid even more, but that’s another age old debate. In the grand scheme of things, I’ll make over 100K a year before I turn 27 and that’s not the case for everyone.

I have experience at both YX and C5. Republic has a much better contract but if you want to fly and only have a couple months on reserve, upgrade as soon as you have 1000 121, and leverage the CPP to mainline as soon as you get 1000 TPIC, C5 is an option. Just don’t expect to get comfy at C5. It’s an up and out place, at least with the current contract, whereas YX’s current contract definitely rewards people who stick around long term.

It's part of an LOA that is due to expire at the end of 2019. C5 is up for a new contract this year as well and it is hoped that this will become the new year 2 FO rate. I would not make a decision to go to C5 based on that $55 carrot, however, as it is not guaranteed to exist beyond December 2019 and the company has a history of being difficult in contract negotiations.
