Commute from the Southeast?

I live in base and I work for a regional that is known for a lagging quality of life and other issues.
But living in base is huge.
I had a jump seater yesterday who spent an extra night in PHL because of over sold flights. If the weather had been 200 feet lower I would have needed alternate fuel and he would have been in PHL another night. That was Tuesday and he has to be back at work on Thursday.
Whatever extra money you will make at a “better” regional might be a wash with hotels, meals and rental cars.
Get done your trip and space positive in your car to your home. If you can help it.

Hello,
I have class dates from both Republic and PSA. Really struggling to come to the 'right' decision. It's a good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.
How is the commute from the southeast to one of the NY area bases? Thinking Newark or LGA from CLT/CHS.
I remember reading only 13-ish non-mil guys went to the legacy's from RPA last year. How is the movement this year? Is it looking better?
Thanks folks.

As a lifelong commuter, I recommend going to PSA if it means being able to drive to work. Having to commute by airplane is an incredible time suck and waste of your life. The added stress of having no idea if you’re gonna make your planned commute or find yourself scrambling when a mainline guy shows up and kicks you off the jumpseat ten minutes prior to push just burns years off your life expectancy. Seriously, if you can avoid commuting, do it.

First, chill with the passive aggressiveness. I thought he lived in CLT. Besides, a 3 hour drive is still 100x better than getting on an airplane to go to work.

I’ve been commuting for years, it isn’t that bad. But not all commutes are created equal. Some are easy and some are terrible. Avoid them if you can, but I wouldn’t let the choice to commute or not commute be the determining factor in choosing an airline.
