Forcing a contract for what? Responsible for what? Whether pilots sign a contract or not they have to train you if they want you to work there. Even if a new hire had a e170 type rating, he would still have to go through the same course as a new hire who didnt. The answer is simple they need to train you no matter what, this is not something that comes out of the kindness of their hearts.
I guarantee you if nobody ever signed that thing they would still have to hire guys eventually. I can't see something like that holding up in court, just my .02

True, but if all you want is a type rating and then to bail, go get one at FSI/CAE/PanAm

Nope. Latest at FSI was a two year training contract after fully certified as an instructor. I was even asked to do that for just changing aircraft - and I was there six years when I asked (beginning of this year).

He meant go and pay for your own type rating.

Copy. Thought it was about a grab and go. In that case FSI will be happy to take the check (Certified of course. With two forms of government issued ID).

I also left Shuttle last year, but I have yet to receive anything yet.

Does anyone have any info on people who may have fought the company on this? There was all sorts of talk in the past about these contracts not being worth the paper they are written on, so I guess we are about to find out.

Please PM me if anyone has any insight.

Hey TurboDog Its been quite some time since you posted this, what ended up happening? Also were you able to continue flying somewhere? Thanks for anything you can share

Never go to an airline that has a training contract. There's a reason they have one. And usually it's because they SUCK!

I have interviewed with corporate flight departments that have even worse training contracts then the one RAH has. I'm not saying I agree with them, but if you are committed to the position you are accepting they shouldn't be that big an issue. If the are a big issue for someone I agree they shouldn't accept the position.
