Anyone know about the flight time incentive thing. How much of a hit to the bonus is it and am I better off just using a credit card to get the last 70 hours I need? Is it cheaper to do it on my own or though republic. I think you get a hire date if you go though the flight incentive program too or I could be wrong.

It basically comes down to how much you need. If you need the full 100 hrs, it's all of it. If you only need 50 it's half, etc etc. It's basically an account that they withdraw from, if you do the FTI. If you pay for it yourself, you'll likely end up paying close to the same thing, unless you get an insane deal.

So all the 100 hour thing is Republic will help you get it, but you will still pay out of your pocket? Doesn't seem like an incentive at all. Why would I do this rather than get those last 100 hours working as a CFI?

Because not everyone is a CFI. If you are, it doesn't make much sense to do. It's for the people that have had a hard time coming across those last few hours.

It comes out of your signing bonus. They just subtract what you fly. You aren't paying for it.

So basically an advance on your pay to finish up your hours? That took three Undergraduates and at two universities (according to their promotional video) to come up with this genius plan?

I'm not sure why there's such a large branch up your ass, but imagine yourself not as a CFI and without a steady flying job to get the hours you need or a job that flies only 200 hours a year. This program would get the remainder of your hours in just a matter of days.

I'm sure it's the best thing since sliced bread. The promotional video mentions none of this.

The flight time is most useful for people short of multi time. My friends had very little and a week later they had 50 to qualify for the ATP. That's where it's real use is.

Upgrade for me is looking like 2.5 years from DOH. Month after month the pace remains the same for this. The current upgrade awards are for people at around 4 years. A year or two ago it was closer to 7. It's all about timing.
