Combination of we fly there from a lot of bases including Miami. Plus we are adding several flights per day there from Houston on United in the coming months. Also Compass closed their MSP base so a good time to recruit I guess.

Welcome! Whatever you do here at Republic, do not, and I mean DO NOT, join the pilot Facebook page. Christ, it's just a bunch of grown ass dudes *****ing and moaning about petty stuff. Worse than two year olds.

My favorite was the whole vest incident where one guy claimed the company cared more about a contract than our safety given the fact that they mailed tentative agreements to everyone 2 years ago but now we have to go pick up our safety vests. Therefore they won't spend money for our safety. That guy sleeps in his tin foil hat.

I always tell people it's the worst part of working here. I guess that's a good thing. Makes you think though, imagine people so whiny all the time about little things that your whole day is just terrible. What a way to live.

That same guy also spent 2 years of his life on the negotiations committee so I would say it is warranted.

Dan is a great guy and his point is very valid. If the company is so concerned about our safety on the ramp, they would either have shipped it to us and made it effective immediately instead of the 6 week delay before we are required to wear them or they would have put them in the planes and made it a required piece of equipment and still made us wear them effective immediately.
The company will do stuff expeditedly when it suits there agenda. Look at the waste of changing the acars release, across the entire fleet, from using our employee number to the pin... what did they truly gain from that? I'm sure most FO's have their captain's pin remembered by the second flight, if the captain didn't just write it down to begin with.
As for the FB page, most of the complaints I have been reading are not even legitimate but are made of out sarcasm. It's a good source to have to ask questions and post last minute trip trades.

Thank you! I had written a response but decided not to post it as I wasn't sure exactly how long he was on the negotiations committee...

As to the vests, I don't mind wearing the vest. Like you, though, I would prefer they put them in the aircraft. While talking to a union steward, I learned they tried that a few years ago during negotiations and pilots kept losing the vests.....

Still don't understand the fuss about the vests. It weighs a few ounces and easily fits in your flight bag...
But never mind the vests, can we or can we not squawk 0000 while at the gate with the transponder in STBY? I mean, gosh, that keeps me up at night. 🙄🙄

Why would you be squawking standby to begin with?
