Hiring

All:

1 doing CFI, 1 a USAF C-130 pilot out sine April, and me.

We were all 3 offered positions on the spot.

Now to think about class date and base.

Best of luck.

Nice!
I just got the CJO today too from an interview on Friday.
When are you starting? I start 9/5. (couldn't quite make it next week).

ironmanndfw 08-14-2017 01:40 PM

I CAN make it next week. Congrats. They were actually surprised when I said I could start tomorrow. They queried me on that. I said I'll make it happen. When they told all of us at the same time, the HR guy said we have a class next week. I said I'll see you then!

Any tips for the interview? Gouges pretty spot on still?

ironmanndfw 08-15-2017 03:15 AM

Gouges are spot on. Just be yourself, relax and answer the questions asked.

The word we got was they are bringing on 6-12 175's. They bumped the bonus to $17,500 (for prior 121 - IDK if that applies to 91K & 135 yet) if you can get in class before Sept 30. Those details the HR member was not fully sure as he was at an event over the weekend doing recruiting. He had not caught up on his e-mails with our interviews starting at 0800 Monday.

I found that I have a couple other LeTU grads that work there, so networking is important. What was great is I got another recommendation from a LeTU grad who was in saying hello.

BTW they started 80 new hire FA's on Monday the 14th. That means they will be getting ready for their last week when I start class next week. It should be fun seeing the differences.

Good luck

The differences between new hire pilot training and new hire FA training? I’m really confused by this thread lol.

Can you expand on what exactly they said about new aircraft?

We only have 4 new deliveries remaining this year and that is it for the year. That will conclude this year's 26 planes on property that were not on property Jan 1.

As far as FA classes go... they only go through a 2-3 week process.

ironmanndfw 08-15-2017 10:15 AM

The 6-12 175's are either on the property or yet to be delivered. We received no further detail. Maybe they will be used as spares?

There was mention of another pilot base opening yet nothing specific. It seems that IAH would be ideal yet no guaranteed flying by UAL for IAH. It seems that UAL wants us to push further west. It was undisclosed as to how far West or where.

All of the above were from Josh in HR. Remember in aviation don't believe it until you have been to school on it or can bid it!

I take most of that with a grain of salt as HR propaganda as people above him make the calls.

The comment about the FA's was that it seemed like a HUGE class to the people there. FA's were everywhere it seemed. IDK nor were we told of the FA turn over rate, yet it was a nice to know kind of thing. :)

The important part is that they are hiring, and a small pay bump in October. I do not recall right off what the bump will be yet I do remember it is small.

It seems like a good company, and I'm happy with that.

Ok, was just trying to figure out what they were feeding you new guys. As I said, only 4 aircraft remain for the year, everything else is already on property.

IAH is logical, but I think United is currently protecting MESA by keeping us out of there. We already do a decent amount of flying into that hub, in fact on a typical week day, we have 50 departures out of IAH, which is more that half of our current bases. It only falls behind, ORD (54), MIA(56), DCA(75), EWR (78) and LGA (108).

I think they have already done 17 or 18 FA classes so far this year, so yes, I would say we have a rather high turn over rate.
