Republic or...
Hi guys, trying to choose between Republic and PDT. I live 10 mins away from EWR and 1.5 hrs away from PHL.
Really like PDT but have discovered that you have to be lucky to be getting 11-12 days off a month (4/2-3 schedule with little other options seems to be harsh as well). Over at Republic from my understanding the schedules are lighter with 1-2 day trips out of EWR and LGA and 15-16 days off, can someone confirm? Upgrade time seems to be more or less the same at both. Help me with some recommendations, I am torn between the two.
Thank you!

I’ve got a buddy at RAH in PHL, he’s been on reserve about 8months, allegedly 3 years to upgrade for him.
PDT is expanding and has no reserve, and upgrades are as soon as you hit 1000 part 121 SIC time and 2500 TT.
If you want the shorter drive and better qol as a result go with RAH, quicker advancement opportunities go with PDT.

Contracted min days off are 11 Days a month at PDT. You won’t drop below that unless you volunteer to fly on your days off (for the last 18months the company has offered 300% premium pay for folks who do).

The good news is you’ll be building flight time for upgrade quickly.

PHL is our smallest hub base.
EWR is a relatively junior base for us. Current line holder, without waiving any contractual item, for October is a 5/1 hire, so 5 months from DOH. So you would be looking at roughly two months on reserve if you did not waive any contractual rights. Reserve in base is not that bad, at all.
Or you can waive the minimum of two days off in a row and allow single days off and hold a line almost straight off IOE. That was a 6/20 DOH, so 2.3 months from DOH.

Are most trips are 1-2 days out of EWR followed by 1-2 days at home? What’s the average hours I can bid for per month and still have 12-15 days off? A
Any chance of picking up extra flying to make more if needed?

Thanks for the info. I am well aware for training backup at Piedmont and that is not too big of a concern as well. I feel like PDT has more to offer however Republic's LGA and EWR bases being so close plus 1-2 trips will provide for sweet QOL. Really hard to decide.

I’m EWR based with rpa. I do 2 day trips, have 15-16 days off and good credit after a year and a half here. I work Monday-Thursday and have the weekend plus Friday off. QOL is good. Upgrade should be 3 years or less. We’ll see what negotiations and a resulting new contract brings along.

LOL!! Last contract took over 8 years so good luck with that negotiating stuff. Not trying to be negative just stating facts.
