Republic vs. Endeavor vs. PSA
Hello all,
I have been lurking the forums for months now and have a pretty good understanding about all three airlines. With four months to go until ATP mins I was hoping to get some input as to who you think will be the best fit for me.
Currently, I live in Maryland roughly an hour and some change from DCA which has sparked initial interest in Republic. Like many of you I would like to move on quickly. Delta in the long term goal. Personally my preferences are as follows (from most to least important):
Career advancement -> Quality of life -> Work rules / pay -> Equipment
To my understanding these are the pros and cons of each airline as they pertain to me (please correct me for any errors and feel free to add):
PSA:
Pros - Living in base, SAP is a huge plus, pay seems to be above industry average, flight benefits with American, flow (not depending on it just nice to have in the back pocket)
Cons - Reserve from what I read isn't the best, SAP may be leaving in the near future for PBS which is a big drawback, classes are full reducing the chance of seeing pay rates similar to 9E in the future
Endeavor:
Pros - Industry leading pay, great contract, commuter clause, flight benefits with Delta, quick upgrade time, DGI program, perhaps a better route to Delta???
Cons - Living out of base is the big one here, classes are real backed up, reserve time likely increasing
Republic:
Pros - Live in base, 2nd highest pay in the industry with good work rules, flight benefits on all three, E175 is nice
Cons - Slow progression in terms of upgrade times, low priority with flight benefits
Overall, if you guys were in my position which route would you take? Its been a stalemate for awhile now and could use a bit of input. Thanks for your time!
Side question: Is there any attrition data that shows where pilots are leaving too? Curious to see where everybody is heading

I picked PDT because the career advancement opportunities were best first and foremost. The flow is nice, and being under the wing for American is also a plus.

Upgrade and pay I would say Endeavor. The guaranteed Delta interview is nice. Overall good work rules.
Good mix of qol/pay/contract for Republic.
Flow is nice to have in your back pocket with PSA even if it is 10 years. Good fo pay with the bonus. My senior CA buddies say the trips are garbage.
All three are good choices. Go to the interviews, talk to the pilots, and make the best choice for you.

Republic has SAP and PBS.
if you don’t make your United Flight you use your benefits to go over to Delta or American. while everyone lists for the jumpseat only or just waits for the next united. You can also see the standbys and seat available minus United which everyone can see in their app. On United Republic is equal with delta and American guys and gals for a seat. Everyone has priority on their own metal. We don’t have a flow. I was a July hire and I should have a line next bid period at DCA.
Interview will all three and see how you like them.
Psa you will will upgrade when you hit 1000 hours. I won’t get any PIC for 2 years at Republic.
Southwest has a BWI base and is right up the road. Look at their 10 year captain pay. It’s not $300 per hour but i would be set for life at that. Some people are stingy and will only go to the major 3 but every Southwest person I have talked to seems happy. I don’t know what “ Career advancement” actually means to you. Delta go with Endeavor, American go with PSA or any wholly own, United prob can go with commut Air.
I think quality of life is work rules.

I’m considering interviewing for Republic. There’s plenty to like about this airline, however the long upgrade times are worrisome. I’ve heard that it’s coming down drastically but I’m also susceptible to wishful thinking
(I’m a pilot after all).

If we do get those airplanes that were hinted at in a recent company letter, that will help lower it as well. The plan is to grow over the next few years. Obviously more planes equals more captain vacancies.
As it stands today, I’m on pace for upgrade at around 2 and 3/4 years. Will it be quicker? I’ll let you know.
Be careful chasing an upgrade. My friend tried it at commutair and it didn’t work.
