Could you guys please provide details on how those weeks of training go by? Pretty much everything is gonna be new coming from the piston world. Also what about day to day, like accommodations, feeding, clothing, laundry, is breakfast included, facilities to workout. It’d be cool to have an idea of what to expect so once there I can put all my effort on the most relevant.

Most of the hotels we use in IND have free breakfast available, a few offer dinner as well. Last I've heard, it's single occupancy rooms for new hires. I honestly don't know which hotels have laundry facilities, but most have basic work out rooms available. Coming from the piston world, it's gonna feel like you're drinking from a fire hose with all the info thrown at ya. INDOC is mostly rules, regs and company policy kinda stuff. Systems is the meat of it. I can't stress this enough, Limitations and profiles are absolutely essential. Limitations and systems knowledge is the major part of the oral exam. Knowing the various flight profiles down cold will make your life (and your sim partners) life much easier.

Single occupancy rooms and if you are close enough to drive it greatly enhances your QOL. Otherwise you will be shuttle busing it to and from class, Walmart, etc. unless you buddy up with someone with a car.

In the hotel you will find your standard workout facility which usually consists of a treadmill and a few dumbbells. For running I used a nice trail nearby that goes along the river. For weights I would drive to a nice new YMCA that was about 5 miles north of the location. If you belong to the YMCA, you can use any around the country as a visitor.

The hotel has one coin operated washer and dryer that works just fine.

Training is already totally different then when I went through just a few months ago. Now supposedly you will go to Indy for INDOC just like before, but then instead of going to Flight Safety at STL you will be sent home with a Tablet and a bunch of CBTs for your Systems portion which I think is a HUGE mistake by the company. Systems used to be taught in a classroom setting at Flight Safety and can be difficult enough on its own, much less self-teaching with no group study. I can see the failure rate increasing significantly with this new process, especially with those coming from the piston world (which I came from). But hey, at least Republic will save a few bucks.

Above info is spot on! All the hotels in IND have a gym, and I believe you can us the Cambri Hotel gym as well. The free breakfast and dinner is nothing great, but it’s free. Also one of the hotels has free beer.

Seems like this training is one of the toughest ones among regionals.

What about bringing a significant other to training in IND? Can they stay in for a few days? And can we bring them on flight benefits or do we need to buy them a separate ticket?

Lots of people had significant others visit on weekends. Flight benefits kick in after 30 days, if you enroll them they will have benefits from day 31.


To address the new training format ( which I agree is a huge mistake)...
You will go to Indy for 2 weeks of indoc, either in the Wyndham (free breakfast) or the Super 8 (free breakfast, free dinner, free beer on tap). You will then be sent home for 2 weeks of CBT do-it-yourself systems. Good luck. You will then be sent back to Indy for a 5 day systems crash course, followed by 4 sessions of Graphic Flight Simulators (Think of it as a Flight Training Device. Used for procedures, flows, running qrh items, etc). From there you will then go straight to St Louis to get in the sims. It's unclear whether the oral (for those who are coming in with the flight time) will be done, whether it's in Indy or in St Louis.

In STL, my class stayed at the Holiday Inn Earth City but I believe subsequent classes have been at the Holiday Inn Express closer to the airport.

What? They're doing self-study systems? That's insane.
