”The Company shall not recruit, hire, or Train any Pilot not on the Seniority List during any time of Furlough or Furlough Mitigation unless all Pilots on Furlough have been offered and accepted or deferred a Recall and Furlough Mitigation is no longer in place.” This should cover LIFT training. SHUT IT DOWN. The optics are beyond bad and the reality is worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Well this thing has gone full circle. Back when they first proposed this disaster I told everyone not to go there. These guys have no chance of a job anywhere now. Apparently if I’m reading it correctly they advanced tuition payments to the academy that they’re now trying to get refunded. These indebted unemployed individuals are discussing whether or not they have travel benefits.

First off, my thoughts are with any of the pilots that have been and potentially will be furloughed. Odds are that we all either have or will go through this at least once during our careers.
Let me preface this next statement by saying I agree that all avenues with LIFT, outside of liquidating, should be exhausted before pilot furloughs. Put the program on hold, as it is, but it can’t be liquidated unless they plan on refunding tuition already paid into the program. I’m not privy to all the numbers but I would think a hold is more cost advantageous than having to reimburse tuition. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t get to this point and people get back to flying. Good luck everyone. |

Why was anyone giving Republic an interest free loan on flight training?
The way it works is that a student gets the tuition loan through a 3rd party lender that Lift has an agreement with. These funds are drawn down by Lift in 3 stages as the student progresses. Republic has zero to do with tuition. Where the Republic payments come into it are when the students become CFI's and begin their loan repayments. At this point Republic kicks in $350 per month as tuition reimbursement. |

In my case, I’ve paid in more than what the prorated price would be for a license I have yet to earn.

From what BB said during his television interview this weekend, it seems that his plan is to open up the Academy and return it to the same operational status it was prior to the state shut down on schools. It looks like this is what is happening to most of the other flight schools around the country. It will probable be hard to tell these students that they will probable be instructors for a few more years than they thought.

I'm a student there. Yes, they are opening this week for sure. And I agree with you, it will probably delay the 3 year program into a 4-6 year program. I'm thinking about leaving and going to a local flight school. I've been there for 5 months and only have 35 hours....
