MCI Base possibility?
I am considering jumping back into aviation after a 10+ year break. I am considering Republic as they have a base here in Kansas City and moving is not an option for me for the next few years.
What are my chances of getting MCI as my base? I am in the process of picking up a CFI job to pick up some hours and currency before I apply. I have about 850 TT now. If there is a better option, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for any information you can provide. |

1500 - 850 = 650 hours. That's six months -- tops -- as a CFI at a decent school these days. I don't think Republic will change that much in six months, but I will tell you that we are hiring like mad and provided the economy doesn't implode there will probably be at least 500 pilots ahead of you in the seniority list by the time you show up on property. Is that a big deal? If you believe where Republic is headed (to be one of the big three regionals), probably not.
