ORD for a new hire
I’m curious as to the current seniority to get into ORD in both reserve and to hold a line as a FO. From what I’ve read, sounds like ORD has shrunk and it’s unsure if it will grow or shrink in the future.
Also wondering what upgrade time is to hold ORD CA. I’d prefer to not commute, especially out of a base for a long period of time, so is it worth coming to RPA specifically for ORD?

However, CA is another story. I think the most JR captain at ORD was hired 11 years ago. I think ORD is RPA's most SR captain base.

Republic's long term plan is to close ORD AFAIK, however, instead of doing the usual regional airline shuffle -- closing the base and involuntarily displacing the pilots there -- they are allowing it to shrink naturally (people leaving the company or moving to other bases voluntarily).
There are many reasons to come to Republic, but ORD as a base isn't one of them. I would pick another base in the area, like IND. Very nice, new airport, reasonable cost of living, and not too far from Chicago, junior enough to hold straight out of training as an FO and later, as CA, and highly unlikely to ever close, as it's company HQ.

This is incorrect, the most junior CA at ORD was hired in November of 2013. It is once of the most senior on the CA side yes, and has lost a bit a flying and is strictly United now, but not exactly sure if you just hear rumors about seniority and post them here, or actually have no clue.

From what I heard the 2013 guy snuck in via a swap with another guy at the last second before they started shrinking ORD. There hasn’t been a single captain vacancy or backfill award in my time here. Barring something crazy, you won’t hold Chicago as captain. Ever. There are guys and girls hired 8+ years ago that want to hold Chicago CA but can’t.
