MCO Commuter

Do we have any commuters out of MCO? If so, where do you park your car and how much do you pay?

I was told by the airport parking agent that parking passes are provided directly to the airlines and there are no monthly flightcrew rates or lots available at the airport.

If would be awesome if any MCO commuter can chime in on this.

To piggyback off this, if you are a commuter, do they pay for employee parking up to a certain amount at your home airport?

Yes, reimburse up to the cost of base parking. The two I know are $20 for IND and $35 for CMH.

MCO commuter here. Us crewmembers can buy a parking pass for $40/month. Make sure you get a "non based crewmember" pass. It gives us unlimited access to the South Lot. To get a pass, you have to go to the Orlando GOAA office near the airport. I renew it every month and submit my receipt to Republic through Workday and they deposit the money back into my account. I've never had any issues.

How is the commute from MCO? I've heard it's not the best place to commute from

I was about to post this question so very happy. And what would you say is the most commutable base from MCO? Where are you based? Any same day commute bases possible?

I began commuting from MCO to CMH, but now I commute to PHL. Columbus was a difficult commute because depending on the day of the week, there was only 1 or 2 nonstop flights. Every now and then Frontier would have a flight scheduled, so I would have a third option. I usually found myself taking Delta via ATL. Philadelphia is a million times easier as there are 8-9 direct flights per day. The easiest commute seems like it would be to Newark because there's over 10 direct flights per day. If you plan on commuting out of Orlando, I would avoid bidding for CMH, IND, MCI or PIT. Any other Republic bases wouldn't be too bad.

Has anyone tried commuting to/from IND on FedEx?

Used to work for republic but still commute from mco. I used to use the non based crew parking but now use Park Bark and Fly. Its $10 more a month but faster for me since I'm north of mco and the shuttle is fast. Either works. I am ewr based and at republic was lga based. Never had trouble commuting. Jet blue is the best to jumpseat on.

Anybody commuting out of Tampa? I’ll be IND based to start out but if there’s somewhere with a shorter reserve that’s easier to get to I’m all for it.

That sounds great! How many days do you have to park there? I did the math, if I work 15 days a month I'd have to pay at least $105. That would be a lot more than the $40 advertised by another post up there.

Its 50 per month unlimited days at park bark and fly. 40 at the south lot.

Im not an MCO commuter, but frequently skip deadheads out of MCO back to base, to go home to CMH instead. Southwest is 3 times a day now and Spirit has a daily evening flight. Not a lot of jumpseat competition, except when there is a pilot job fair in the area.

Passrider.com has fairly accurate schedules. Search for your city pair and pick a random day, and see what the schedules look like.
