How do your trips pay?
 

At OO we are fighting for marketing block or better pay (the departure time to the arrival time set by the mainline partner). Currently we are paid our historical block or better which is usually significantly less. We are being told that you guys get paid the same as us. Is that true?

No. We are paid block or better.

So does your block match the scheduled departure/arrival time set by the partner? In other words is it marketing block (set by the major partner) or historical block (set by Republic).

As far as I can tell, it’s marketing block. I have never noticed a difference between what I’m paid and what the schedule on any of the flight tracking or airline apps say.

With that said there is a means in the contract to adjust times based on historical block on a 6 month basis if there is more than a 7.5% difference. I think that time gets sent to the code shares, again because I’ve never noticed a difference between what is listed online and what we’re paid.

There you go, that's pretty much what we have as well, although it doesn't change the schedules from the partner. We have 2 times; block (marketing block set by the partner) and credit (historical block set by us). We are paid historical block or better, which puts us at a disadvantage pay-wise with most others. It looks like Skywest, Republic, and Horizon all pay based on a historical credit rather than marketing block.
I do find it interesting that your times are modified by the partner though. At least in our case the partners keep padding the block to increase on-time performance. Doesn't seem like they'd be in a hurry to go the other direction.

Like I said though, I’ve never noticed a difference between what is listed online by the code shares and what my schedule says. If we fly more than min day and the duty rig isn’t a factor there will never be a difference between block and credit.

We are paid block or better based on what is put on our schedule. We never get paid less because a historical flight was less than the marketing block time.

A DCA-LGA shuttle that is blocked at 1:29 but takes 00:59 minutes to get there is paid out at 1:29.

I'm not trying to argue, I just want to make sure I have correct data.

The actual language says "Scheduled Segment Times may be reviewed by the Company and the Union Scheduling Committee every six Months using the prior 12 Months' en route time averages for city pairs to determine whether any adjustments are to be made to the Segment Times for those city pairs. Adjustments will be made only when the en route time average for a city pair varies from the established scheduled Segment Time for that city pair by 7.5% or more plus or minus."

The paragraph before this says "For the purpose of this Article, Segment Times will be determined using the average of historic enroute (Block-to-Block) times between city pairs by type of Equipment."


So if the average segment time changes, in the future they will change the block time. In either event we're paid the better of block or better.

That sounds exactly like what OO has. Our "credit" is historical block or better. Do you ever see a segment time that differs from the marketing block set by the major partner?
