Interview Prep

Hello everyone. I'll be interviewing with Republic in the next couple of months. I plan on getting SA's ATP/CTP to start getting a head start on it especially since I was told they give you a 20 question test from the ATP/CTP. In regards to interview prep does anyone recommend getting SA's interview prep or would aviation interviews be the better option?

Thanks!

Do both. That 20-question iPad test is straight from the SA question bank, but is just a small part of the overall interview.

Know METARs, TAFs, 1,2,3 rule, and how to read and brief a Jepp approach plate and you'll be fine. It was a pretty painless process when I did it last month.

aviation interviews is the better option for YX. The ATP interview prep from SA is garbage, and I say that being a big believer in SA products. If YX is at the top of your list, get the full ATP prep from SA, but specify that you will be going through L3's program, the questions are the same, and you can save the money.

I don't know why you say that. It's literally Sheppard Air that you're using on the test. It doesn't prep you for the full interview, but it doesn't claim to. It's only for the iPad test.

correct.. I am speaking from my experience with it, having bought the interview prep and the ATP prep from SA. Aviation interviews, in my opinion, helps prepare you for the overall interview-not including the 20 question IPAD test. SA has study material specifically for that test. When I took it, the SA material was garbage with many repeated questions in the study guide that had different corresponding answers, and I wasn't the only one to complain about it in my interview group.. fast forward to the actual ATP written, and SA was the usual "awesomeness".. just recommending that you don't waste the money on the SA study guide for the 20 question IPAD test.

So I spoke with someone from SA. She said that I should not purchase the ATM prep yet because the 20 question test Republic uses that is pulled from the ATP/CTP is not from that.

She said that the interview prep SA has is what contains the ATP/CTP questions used for the 20 question test during the interview. Can anyone confirm that?

I don't want to purchase the wrong one.

Thanks to all who have responded so far with what I should do to get prepared. It'll be my first airline interview so definitely nervous. Especially since this is my top choice of a regional.

Dont at all worry about the 20 questions. I know i didint do well on it but I had a solid interview and was given the job. I was told they are a last ditch decision if they are on the fence about you. The HR questions are very important, they want to make sure you are trainable and a good fit for the company.

Read the online interview gouges, they are spot on! I even posted one myself on aviationinterviews.com Its not a difficult interview just make sure you're prepared. Cant stress that enough, read the online gouges!!

As far as shephardair wait for your CTP class to be scheduled they will give you a discount on the software

Use aviationinterviews once, SA twice.

Thanks to all who have responded so far with what I should do to get prepared. It'll be my first airline interview so definitely nervous. Especially since this is my top choice of a regional.

First off, I recommend you do a practice interview somewhere else first. Get the nerves worked out and understand the interview process at another regional that would make a good backup plan. If you get a CJO then you have confidence walking into the YX interview. Make all your mistakes in the practice interview, then you'll be more prepared for your top choice airline.

I can confirm the YX interview uses questions from the old ATP question bank. The SA 121 interview prep question bank will help you pass this and it's worth the cost. It includes all the questions used before 1500 hrs and ATP/CTP course was required for an ATP written knowledge test. You need this, unless you are comfortable describing fuel requirements for turboprop supplemental operations to an island with no alternate.

Use aviationinterviews for passing the face to face interview, which will take place with an HR rep and a line pilot. The SA software won't help with this.

The line pilot will evaluate your ability to contribute to the flight crew efficiently by reading a METAR and a TEMPO in a TAF, brief an approach, determine minimums, read back a crossing restriction or describe chop versus turbulence. The pilot needs to see that you won't need guidance through basics that you should already know. Aviationinterviews will give you specific questions or scenarios used by interviewers.

Lastly, after getting the job, call SA again and buy the ATM prep questions. This will qualify for a 10% L3 discount. This is a newer question bank, some are similar to the old ATP questions used in the YX interview, but there are new ones the airlines don't have.

TLDR - do a practice interview elsewhere, buy SA for the YX written, Aviationinterviews for interview questions, then once hired you can gladly give SA a call for the current ATM prep.

Thank you for the reply! I appreciate you taking to the time to give advice and break down each of my questions with answers! I appreciate it!
