Block Times

Could current FO’s list how many hours they are blocking and what their base is?
Thanks

Here’s the answer you want: it varies
Plus block hours doesn’t always equate to pay/credit.

Factor: how YOU bid.

Also like everyone says: there’s been a thread somewhere on here about it.

Thanks for the reply and the pointer to older threads. I was looking for current data though. Specifically if I wanted to fly a lot could I. I know some people at another airline that aren’t getting many hours. Lots of sitting.
Again thanks for any info from current FO’s

Hasn’t really changed. It’s all up to you and what you want to do. The availability is out there to fly as much as you want from company open time to other pilots wanting to drop stuff, even last minute drops for various reasons

You can fly as much as you want within the confines of the Part 117 rules if you are willing to lose some of your days off and commute for some open time trips. Because of buffers, it will be pretty hard to get to 1000 hours in a year but not impossible.

Living in LGA I bid 75 hours and usually get block a few hours less than that. Then I pick up day trips and turns to get up into the 90s. I could max my hours every month if I wanted to and have had a month with almost 110 credit and most with credit in the 90's. I've been flying since May and am about halfway up the LGA FO list for seniority.

To clarify, what are the rules for reserves picking up on days off? Is it like Endeavor? I'm wondering if someone who lives local could bid reserve, not get used much, then pick up on days off on top of guarantee.

You can do that.

That said.... please strongly consider picking up trips and splits from the trade board before considering picking up stuff from the open time pot. Taking open time at straight pay reduces our leverage for getting all open time paid at a premium.

It helps your fellow pilots get rid of the trips they need to drop and it helps the group as a whole toward a possible new improvement during our next round of negotiations.

As long as you don't break any Part 117 rules or built in buffers you can pick up as much as you want. Keep in mind FDPs during reserve count whether you are used or not. I imagine this is the same or very similar at every regional.

Keep in mind that Part 117 was put in place after the Colgan accident to reduce fatigue. This limits how much overtime you can work. There are FOs coming in that think they are going to make $40,000 extra with overtime. No you are not, Part 117 rules is going to limit how much you can work.

With only 12 days off a month combined with Part 117 and bufferes, it is really hard to pick up extra trips while on reserve. You basically need a few day off block in order to pick up anything significant.

Thanks. Just comparing things to my current regional.
