It's time

RPA has shown over and over and over that the only metric they truly care about is cost savings. Nothing else. Not quality of life, not fatigue risk management, not scheduling efficiency (in the eyes of crew members), etc. This latest blast email by the union only furthers that sentiment.

It's time to start dropping the brake late if we actually want a change; because per the union email: "unfortunately, the company has the final say."

Unfortunately our current CBA doesn’t prevent what they’re doing. Yes they care about the cost above all else, and have from the very beginning. Also YX has never been commuter friendly.

I would be careful about advocating a “work action” though, because this is a very open forum.

Good point. We’ll put it this way. Next time we have an aircraft swap in EWR from A to C and a 29 minute MST there will be no more skipping bathroom breaks or passing an opportunity for a quick meal. Of course we’ll never intentionally drop the brake late, but there will be no more bending over backwards for a management team that is and always has been way too willing to take a dump on the crews.

“In order to utilize more crew members...”

That, to me, sounds like they went a little overboard on the hiring and now they’re tired of paying guys to do nothing. The target line average is also low for next month.

This is a good point! Probably just the beginning if we don’t get additional flying soon. They’re probably worried about the optics of new hires sitting reserve for 12 months.

I think we will win this eventually, because they can’t afford to have a bunch of angry employees. This really screws the FAs though, because they have no rigs.

How do I go about getting a hold of this email? As a new hire, should I have received it on my company email?

I agree. This is likely to be a record low month for me as far as flight time and used reserve days. They don’t like how we’re getting paid 75 hours to block 20 hours or less.

The pilot info page on flica has the target line value. Basically it’s set for pilots to DEC/JAN values. It could be good if your close to holding a line, because maybe you get a low time line. Be sure and tatie advantage of your company rental car. Unlimited miles and gas is nice. Maybe go to the beach during your 32 hour GSP overnight.

These lengths of overnights aren't good for anyone. Yeah, 32 hour overnights at Delta are awesome when you're making $150,000+ and getting 20 days off per month. At a regional, not so much.

Oh I agree totally. I’m sure they didn’t figure in the cost of rental cars and trip rigs for these long overnights. It will cost a bunch of $$$! I would be very surprised if in April we see the same stubbornness from the company about pairing construction.
