Atp/ctp course
Hello all. Sorry if this is already buried in a previous thread. Im curious about the ATP/CTP course. I am currently 17 days out from the course (may 29TH Indoc class) and I have received the confirmation email from L3 in orlando. I reside in Winter Haven. I know that republic pays for the course and they 1099 me on it, but am I on the hook for the study material?( sheppard air). if so thats fine, I just thought I read in one of these threads that the sheppard air codes were provided In the class itself or something to that effect. am I wrong?? in the email it states that if I tell sheppard I am doing the course through L3 I will receive a 10% discount.
Also what am I to expect from this course? I have met pilots whom say the course is a joke and I have met pilots whom say the course is quite serious.
Finally, what are some things that helped you get through training? besides the typical coffee and such? -thanks in advance-

For CTP not much. I did Sheppard Air one week before showing up and continued to study in the evenings after class. Don't stress too much about it. Hope I was able to help and good luck!

I agree wholeheartedly that Tim Hunt is awesome... however, he's in Dallas, don't think he'll be doing a course in Orlando. Or does he travel back and forth?
Go ahead and start on Sheppard Air now. I started about a week prior and ended up wishing I'd done it sooner. No one wants to go to class all day and then study stuff you have no clue about for 2-3 more hours every night, which is what I had to do. I busted my tail and got a 94, just wish I'd done it differently.
Tim Hunt described the sim sessions as "show and tell". No pressure, just getting you exposed to what it's like to fly a big jet. It was pretty cool, as long as you don't get the 0200-0600 slot.

When I went last year the Sheppard course was included in ATP. Once we were on the roster for the upcoming class you could call Sheppard and get the course. Republic didn't put us into the class until very close to the date but Sheppard was very nice about charging me for the course and then giving me a full refund once I got put into the class.
