Hello everyone,
Time for another training update! Most of the class has finished their Maneuvers Validations. I say most because unfortunately we lost someone in the FMT’s. About half the class has completed the LOE and so far everyone has passed that. Here is a rundown of what to expect during your sim sessions.
You’ll either be going to STL or CVG for sims as we do not have those in Indy. (Btw MK said in a class that expect to see breaking ground on new training center in Indy Q1 of 2020. Lets see how accurate that is.) You’ll be doing your training at Flight Safety but you’ll have RPA instructors.
Our instructors that we had were very experienced and in my opinion did a great job. My sim partner and I were adequately prepared for our MV and LOE’s and thankfully didn’t have any issues along the way. You have access to the AQP manuals so study the lessons before you show up to have a good understanding of what you’re about to do. You’ll have five sessions and then take your MV. Just like the PV you’re tested on items you’ve done before. V1 cuts, rejected t/o, single engine ILS, etc... You’ll have a CA seat fill that’ll run the QRH and do PM duties. All you do is fly the plane. Simple.
You’ll then do two SPOTS. These sessions contain your EET training, PRM approaches, pitch trim runaways, etc... These are train to proficiency btw.
After your SPOTS you’ll go back to Indy for two GB LOFT’s in the EFPT’s. These are to prepare you for your LOE. You’ll do a domestic flight and then an international flight. Be sure to study the international ops guide.
Then again you’ll pack your bags and go to either CVG or STL for a LOFT in the FMT and then finally your LOE.
The LOE is treated as a LOFT. I won’t spoil the details of it.
Same thing as the MV you’ll have a seat fill. They’re there to help you as PM. You tell them what you need and they’ll make it happen. They’ll build the approaches, help with the FMS set up and etc... Honestly the LOE isn’t difficult if you don’t psych yourself out. It’s not meant to trick you. It’s there to see if you have ADM, good CRM and for them to see if you have effective TEM skills.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the way my training went here. This is my first 121 program and they made me feel right at home from day one and you could tell the instructors cared about their jobs and our outcomes.
