Envoy to Republic...
Hey All,
Need some input here. I have two offers both from Envoy and Republic, I would most likely get stuck on the 145 in LGA for Envoy, rather than being on the 175 with RPA. Location does not matter for and willing to relocate. Has anyone gone from Envoy to Republic can give me some info about what they think between the companies. Envoy has "the flow" but I'm not entirely sure i'm sold. I've heard republic has great work rules. I'm just looking for differences, tips, advice, or anything between the two to help me formulate a decision.

I wouldn't go to an airline just for the shiny jet, but we do have innumerous QOL advantages to Envoy. No junior manning, light years better reserve rules, a company that doesn't loathe it's pilots, and we're growing fast. I don't get the Envoy attraction other than the flow. No one seems to be happy over there. Seems more like a prison sentence to get to a legacy with its own set of big issues.

You’d be happier at Republic. QOL is way better. Envoy is stuck with what it has contract wise because people go there and become a slave to the flow. Republic had to compete with flow somehow, so we have a much better contract and stability.

what are your guys thoughts on the flow? If I go RPA, am I really taking a hit/missing out on the flow? My thing is are we really going to need a flow? And i'm sure there are some major downsides to the whole "flow" thing.

depends if you want AA for the base you probably won't get in outside of a flow if you have all civ. time. If you want anyone else you don't need it. be very aware that they advertise a 6 year flow but it is not, more like 7-8 years. It was 5 years for the 2015-2016 hires but so far they haven't adjusted it to make it that again. I work for a AA WO and I just checked the seniority list and a August new hire will flow in 7.8 years. Maybe 7 if you include historical outside attrition to other carriers.

Here’s a photo from our private Facebook group about2-3 people who actually left American eagle/ envoy and they are happy.
My devils advocate with flow is we will need more pilots due to retirements then the flow can provide so everyone will be hired.

If 6 years is realistic, my attitude was, too much can happen in that time to use it as one of my considerations for choosing one company over another. I've heard the "insurance policy" argument, but if the economy goes south, flow will be meaningless.

It would be interesting to know how many pilots at PSA and Envoy are doing a "street app," interviewing and moving on prior to flow, compared to number that are waiting for and using the flow. I was told by friends at PSA and the recruiting team that flow is currently 6 years at PSA. I don't recall the number I was told by the Envoy team, but it was significantly shorter. That lead me to believe they were quoting "results may vary" numbers and therefore, a little optimistic.

Good info. Re-thinking... its just too complex and the airline industry just too fickle. If the economy goes south, military transitions will decrease dramatically and maybe its a wash with the mandatory outflow at the top. Who knows.
