Growth with increased attrition

With the start of Compass frames coming soon, taking delivery of new airframes next year and other possible management adventures in the future, is YX going to meet the staffing needs for all this expansion? As of now YX is in a net loss of pilots that is showing no signs of changing. Contract negotiations start next year, which my guess would focus on ways on how to keep people from leaving (1-2 year FO’s possibly or additional perks for CA’s?).

Other than lots of red flag in the future, anyone else have any other thoughts on this situation? I can’t see the company taking the understaffed path AGAIN.

I think everyone is underestimating the amount of hiring that is going to occur at the majors. Not only are LLCCs/ULCCSs expanding, retirements will soon be at an all time high. Add to that Moxy and the MAX getting recertified and you are going to see the regional pilots commanding once unthinkable salaries. H€||, five years ago most current regional salaries would have been unthinkable.

And you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Numbers are only negative now because Republic scaled back on hiring after the hiring wave of 2018. Back then Republic had significant positive growth each month. I suspect we will see the same soon, especially with the addition of the additional SIM.

We hired some 700+ people in 2018... They definitely dialed it back for 6mo or so. I’d imagine they can pick it up again if needed.

I have an interview with YX this month. Only regional I’m applying to as they have a base where I want to live. Tired of moving to chase 91 jobs which can go away tomorrow and really no advancement in the future. Pay is at the discretion of the boss only. Thing is, I will lose like $50-60k the first year doing this. Even after upgrade I feel like it would take awhile to reach my current salary. It’s so hard to tell how much one would make on average at the airlines each year. Mainly I’m considering making the jump to 121 to get in position for an exciting future. Anyone have to deal with this same thing?

PM'd you as there was some rather specific stuff in there I'd rather not put on a public board. Feel free to fire away anything else and I'll answer here or PM if I think it's more appropriate.
Mike
