ATP is not considered part of your new hire training. It is a requirement to start it.

Well ATPCTP is... (not the ATP itself)

How many days is ATP/CTP before Indoc and does Republic plan all that out or is it up to you? Do you have time to take the written exam before INDOC or is that something you have to work in?

I believe it’s a week long course immediately before you start INDOC through a 3rd party such as ATP, L3, etc. Not sure if they still do the in house atp-ctp course or not, someone else will have to chime in. I’ve heard good things about the in house as your getting extra time in the aircraft you’ll be flying. Yes republic plans it out for you.

Republic takes care of the logistics. You'll be flown out on a Sunday, start ATP-CTP the following day, finish the following Sunday, take the written on Monday then fly to Indy to start Indoc on Tuesday (this is the date you pick when asked by the recruiter so be sure to factor in the CTP when looking at your timeline). I believe the in-house is still going on and is great if you can get it but I think it's all luck of the draw. Start studying Sheppard Air a week or so before you go to CTP, trust the system, and you'll do great.

And as a side note, if driving to Indianapolis is even a possibility, do it. Having a car there is huge and you'll have no trouble making friends.

It depends on the type of person but a week might be pushing it for going through 1200 questions on Sheppard, especially if you follow their formula. Sheppard recommends starting 30 days before the test.

I agree, a week would be a challenge. I suggested starting a week before he goes so he would have the week of the course to study as well. I feel two weeks is about perfect, based on the individual of course.

Default Chicago and Commuting

Hey all.
Wondering how long it would take to bid and hold ORD base? Not a line but just be able to hold reserve out of ORD.
Also wondering if there are any commuter policies at Republic??
Thanks in advance!

ORD is fairly junior on the FO side. Just a couple of months to hold it these days. You'll never see it as a CA, though.

Republic's commuter policy is you're protected as long as you list for two flights that would get you to base by your report time. Can be used 4 times in a rolling 12 month period.
