Hey all. That time of year again.Curious what most do in regards to company vs HW LTD and STD. I've flown with some guys who use company provided STD and HW LTD, and vice versa...

Jut wondering what experienced guys and gals in the industry have done or any tips? Anyone have any experience with either and wish they had done something different? Thanks!

I think it’s a no brainer to go with HW as it protects against loss of medical. You will be hard pressed to find another insurance that will cover you if you lose your medical. The HW short term is expensive, but I still think it’s worth it unless have enough money stashed away to self insure.

ALPA offers LT and ST loss of license / medical and also options for lump sum and monthly payout.

Yes but, correct me if I’m wrong, being a Teamster I don’t have access to ALPA insurance. Talking to my financial advisor, she wasn’t able to find anything on the open market that would insure against loss of medical.

Keeping your pen out of company ink will help you avoid that issue.
