I'll never understand the immense criticism some pilots have for other pilots trying to keep things safe. A simple reminder to run the QRH after an extremely stressful scenario from someone that likely has thousands of hours on the type or the several threads chastising the audacity of a jumpseater to speak up when pilots are doing something dumb. Safety first and foremost, kudos to all involved. Look forward to the lessons learned we can all take from this flight.

You see, this assumption that the PIC in that airplane didn’t have thousands of hours “on the type” is where you’re all rubbing people the wrong way. It’s the blanket characterization that regional folks have less experience or are lesser pilots or haven’t seen as much or don’t care as much or... you get my drift.
I understand that it wasn’t meant that way, but that’s often the way it is received.

have thousands on type before upgrade. The guy on the radio was obviously a recent regional guy if he thought he remembered enough of the 175 to help, this wasnt a 64 year old 350 captain with no 175 time talking down to the crew. If I'm having the most challenging flight of my life, struggling to control the plane, please speak up if you think you can help. The internet will be mad at you, but I won't

Asking if they ran the QRH is like asking someone if they use the toilet to take a crap. Completely unnecessary and obvious. Let them fly the airplane, how is that hard to understand? Stop talking!

Not "thousands" on type before upgrade. Not anymore, not since 2018. At least a thousand, but some don't break 2,000 at upgrade now. We just need 1,000 of part 121 to upgrade at a Part 121 airline.

Overall, hiring a majority of pilots coming out of flight school instructing would tend to give you a majority of less experience pilots on property than the majors. it's the nature of the beast at the Regionals to hire folks at 1,500 (and less nowadays with all kind of exemptions) and to have pilots leave after a short 3-5 years stunt to go make a better living with a better quality of life at the majors.

But I would bet $1 that the majority of the pilots at Republic have less experience and haven't seen as much as all the pilots at JetBlue, Spirit or Frontier (I will not even mention Southwest or the big 3), no?

3 posts total with this account. 1st post acting like you’re a Republic Pilot, then this post....
You sound very suspicious... Are you a reporter? You aren’t anyone I’ve ever flown with that’s for sure.

Flying with me? With about 1,930 pilots bidding in November, do you really think you would have flown with every pilot in the opposite seat?! Did you actually really wrote that?
