Default GoJet Direct Entry Cap vs Republic

I posted this at Gojet forum:

Quick question. Gojet just announced direct entry cap additional 30K CL65 type bonus on top of 45K Direct Entry. I've never worked for gojet.
DE Captain or FO republic then upgrade in 1.5 years? Which airline has better QOL as both are ORD base which I want. Thx

Just to manage expectations, there are 18 month upgrades at YX but to hold ORD you're looking at about a 10 year wait. It's wildly senior.

Sadly yes, the unfortunate result of multiple mergers and consolidations over the years, as I understand it. I think the junior lineholder has been on property something like 12 years.

Do you have prior jet 121? I personally wouldn’t risk consequential training failures or worse yet violations trying to make that leap otherwise. You only are clean in this career once. If you’re young, keep your eyes on the prize - a long productive and lucrative career. The bonus will be a drop in that bucket. Pick the quality company and pace yourself... imho

ORD is most senior on the captain side. Something like a 2006 hire just to get in base, and they are on reserve.

I beg to differ. He’s captain eligible and said he had CL65 time. Why NOT upgrade? And if he fahrts around for an extra year and a half when majors are starting to hire 750-1000 a year - which will soon be the case - what that will cost him is 12-15 hundred seniority numbers at United. Fifteen hundred guys and gals he will be stuck in lag behind for the rest of his career.

How did you become so risk averse? Did you go to one those elementary schools that didn’t let you play dodgeball at recess because you might get an owie?

Year 3 pay rate at republic $95 with upgrade pays more then their silly bonus for a direct entry captain. That doesn’t include quality of life or other soft pay republic has. I really don’t know anything about go jet. You could even upgrade by year 2 or sooner if you have time. Unfortunately you won’t be able to upgrade into Chicago at republic.
