Default Got My ATP/CTP Course Date

Good morning everyone. Just got one step closer to my dream. I am 40 years old and have always wanted to be an airline pilot. I am coming from a Education and Medical background where I was a Elementary School Teacher and a Physician Assistant.

Today I found out that I will be in the 2/28 ATP/CTP course given in house by Republic. Just wondering how having at Republic is different as two of my friends have had them at another site. Both of these friends are also presently in early training. We all had about the same amount of times as we worked at the same flight school to get our hours.

Following ATP/CTP I will be in the March 10, 2020 INDOC class. I am thinking about doing a blog about my experience going through training. However, I don't know how busy things are going to be so I will make the decision as I get closer to my class date.

I was a Pilot Prep Hire so if anyone have questions about that program please feel free to contact me about it.

Have a great day.

Welcome! And congrats on getting the in-house CTP, it will introduce you to most of your classmates early on and give you 12 hours in the E170 while everyone else is getting six hours in a Boeing or Airbus sim. The CTP isn't anything to worry about, I thought it was a nice introduction to the airline way of doing things. Just follow the Sheppard Air program and the written will be a breeze.

Regarding the blog, I think it's a good idea and could be very helpful for those behind you. Most of the first two weeks is operational and regulatory so it will be relatively dry but it picks up after that. I don't think it would be difficult to carve out some writing time every day, especially if it also serves to reinforce what you've learned.

Coming from a non professional aviation background or right out of flight instruction means a higher learning curve in training. Not insurmountable, but a lot to put together. The in house ATP which gets you familiar with our plane is a big help in this regard imho. Starts to give you the big picture and get you comfortable early. Congrats and welcome!

That is the one that I was assigned. About a month ago when I started submitting my final paperwork they told me I would either be assigned a class in house or a class outside of Republic. They said they would know about one month from my official class date. So this week I reached out to my recruiter and she told me that I would be in the in house class.

Thanks for starting this thread, Ortho! I did the Pilot Prep program and will be starting some time this summer hopefully. I think a blog post would be fantastic, if you have the time.

In regards to finalizing paperwork, what all did you have to submit? I'd like to have all of my ducks in a row.

Thanks!

Whattsamatter? Can't hold a job?

Just kidding!. I was in the same boat but a little older when I came here. Welcome Aboard! What GHawk said is very true, you'll have a bit of a leg up in training for having done the in house. I came here with my ATP in hand, earned in a part 91 setting. It was obvious that a lot of the class knew each other, from the CTP courses, and were ahead of where I was regarding 121 ops, of course I had little to no 121 knowledge.

Best of Luck to you!

Man now I’m wondering if I can delay my atp-ctp course to start when yours does for the in house. I’m supposed to start next week in Dallas.

Please don't take that tack because of what I stated in my post. My statement was in reference to the ctp course in general...

Don’t worry I won’t. Was just wishing for the in house as I know it can be a great advantage. I want to get in asap even if it means doing the atp ctp elsewhere. It’s worked for the thousands of other pilots so it must not be that bad. Good luck and I like the blog idea.
