No strong concerns either way, but, I'll play, I'm bored.
I'll go with 2 wrongs don't make a right here, but, he's not exactly "punching" the seat, he's just trying to be annoying. She's not injured in any way shape or form from this. Just looking for some free travel.
I don't know where the FA would get the idea that it's unlawful to video on an airplane. Never heard of that one. I couldn't find it in United's Contract of Carriage.
Maybe if the FA's trying to keep the peace, sees that the male pax is getting upset and tells her to stop for that reason, (is she then required to stop recording under "following crew member instructions")? Seems like a stretch to me but sometimes they do have to act like kindergarten teachers given the pax these days.
The male seems like quite the Richard to me as well. He isn't eating at this point. Why shouldn't she be able to recline? I'd turn around and say "I'm going to recline a little now" or something similar. If you suggest that she shouldn't be able to recline because he can't, does this now by ripple effect go up to the front of coach?
Seems like just a bad case of two two year olds in two seats that are too close together. (that's a lot of 2's!)

§ 91.11 – Prohibition on interference with crewmembers.
No person may assault, threaten, intimidate, or interfere with a crewmember in the performance of the crewmember's duties aboard an aircraft being operated.
Even a rookie lawyer could argue filming a FA doing their job could be intimidating, especially when they do "give me your employee number" bit. Or, they can say the filming caused an interference with their duty by constantly distracting them away from their job.

1) FA definitely in the wrong. Hate to see YX in the news for this. Extremely unprofessional.
2) Douche dude definitely in the wrong. If you don’t want a seat in the last row, and one that doesn’t recline, poney up and pay for more than Basic Economy.
3) If you pay for a seat, you have every right to recline it to its fullest extent.
4) Hard to take either side. Video of douche dude speaks for itself. But that lady’s Twitter feed is a bit off the wall. Looks to be out for fame and money. Getting FBI involved = LOL
5) X-rays, time off work, whiplash, etc = GTFO. I’ve had worse turbulence on 90% of my flights.
