I would just sit back a while. Training isn't going to start for months if likely at all this year. The company will reach out when they know more, but those of us on the line already don't know a whole lot, and the situation changes by the hour. We do know April is bad and they think May will be worse. If we don't see a furlough, it's not going to switch back on to pre-covid levels like a light. I personally believe the holidays will be the first time that people will start trying to travel again, but only speculation. I doubt we'll see loads like we did just a few weeks ago (thus the demand for new pilots) until next year at the earliest. The economic wounds of this will take years to undo. I'm just hoping the airlines (regional and mainline alike) don't go through another wave of bankruptcies. **** times right now.

I could be wrong, but, I don't think you're "hired" till your first day of INDOC. I don't believe you're considered an "employee" while you are taking CTP class.

Semantics but whatever. I call being offered a job being “hired.” Getting on the seniority list and payroll is another thing, and yes I know I’m not an employee during CTP

Some people with class dates later on are being told they’re cancelled UFN but mine is pushed 3 weeks, tryin to figure out why they didn’t just rescind by now?

I’m sorry to say, but there are simply more important irons in the fire right now other than giving people that aren’t on the seniority list yet answers on to when they’re coming back for day 1. It’s postponed indefinitely. Not just new hires, but upgrades and CQ training as well. That’s about all anyone knows right now. A lot of that is driven by not only massive reductions in flying, but orders for groups larger than 5 or 10 (whatever it is today) from congregating. Then it becomes financial austerity...the company is going to be hemorrhaging money over the next few months. They won’t be able to afford to train let alone retain. They are inundated right now, and new hire training dates are near the bottom of the priority list. Asking the same question 5 different ways is not going to open the spigot again. Sit back, stay home, and wait for further instruction. Or do as I suggested and start making a plan B because this cluster is going to take months to undo.

Understood, thanks.

On a different topic, just trying to get educated, but isn’t Republic somewhat more insulated from these kinds of shocks because they are contracted by major carriers? So wouldn’t that stabilize revenue since it’s a contract, unlike a WO where the parent company has more flexibility to reduce capacity? I’m curious because that was a factor that went into my decision of a which regional to go to. Not that it matters anymore, since it sounds like I’m probably gonna have to revert to plan B.

But, I feel this is something people would like to know about and I see on Youtube many people are evening doing Vlogs about being a pilot or even a flight attending. I am not good at writing things. English wasn't a good subject for me during schools so, it possible my grammar might be off a times. Just warning you all.

A little about myself. I am 40 years old and have been a particing Orthopedic Physician Assistant for the past 12 years. Prior to that I was an Elementary School Teacher for a few years. However, while I was growing up and even in highschool all I wanted to be was a Pilot. At first I was looking at aviation colleges like University of North Dakota, or Embry Riddle, but my mom talked me out of being a pilot, even though I had already started flight training. Trying to make my mom happy I gave up my dream of being a pilot. Some 20 years later one of my friends at the hospital I work at started flight training. This reminded me that I had hours already so why let them go to waste, so I went to on of my flight schools and signed up for training. I heard all about the pilot shortaage and I new that I still had a good amount of years left so I decided to go the whole way. I became a flight instructor in December of 2018 and I have been one since getting the required hours I need for Republic and ATP. Now I official have them and I will be starting training with Republic in the coming days. As you all know the first step is ATP/CTP.

Today I received the information for my ATP/CTP course. I was lucky enough to get the oppurtinity to do the Republic In-house ATP/CTP course. In the infomration that I received it gave me the dates and times of the first few days of the course. My course will start on February 28, 2020 and end with me taking my written on March 9, 2020 the day before I start INDOC. During this time period Republic will be sending me to either CVG or STL to do ATP/CTP training on one of Flight Safety's sims. I heard that the benefit of this course is twofold, one you get more sim exposure and also instead of flying a A320 or B737 at ATP/CTP I will be using the Embrarer 170 sims. It should be interesting and fun.

At the present time I don't know my travel information. That will come in the next few days. I know this is a start of something the is exciting and something that I wanted to do all my life. Its a long training road ahead but I am ready for this.

If anyone wants to know anything about training as I experience please feel free to ask. I will try to update you as often as I can.

Can you do a sweet rap like this in your blog please.

Heard from a friend that works there that the boss sent a letter yesterday that basically said things look pretty bad and don't expect new hire training to start up again until mid to late 2021.

How much more time will shutting down LIFT and liquidating those assets buy them? Even though LIFT isn't one of them, if this pandemic ends those lame brain pilot training academies that take fresh Private students all the way to the Majors bypassing many capable Regional pilots, then some good has come out of this.
