16 days away from home sometimes more if the following months schedule ties into the previous month. At republic based at home I did a lot of day trips, longest I would be gone is 5 days, but that was rare.

Yeah 16 days straight is not fun for a family. They didn’t mind the 4 day trips back to back with Republic? I’m sure it’s hard either way especially with young kids just gotta do what’s best for you and have a good work/life balance that’s most important.

Anyone else ever been in this position or know of people that have come back from the ACMI world? Would I be making a mistake?

Thanks for any input.
I went back to Republic from acmi. One of the best decisions I’ve made. PM me if you have any questions.

Someone will bite. If you want to be marketable, wide body experience seems unimportant for all except UPS. Go back to YX and get a LCA slot if you can. You could also hold out for a little while until an ULCC/LCC calls.

Until that happens remember that you don’t have to accept back to back schedules at K4.

Those don't exist at Republic or any other Part 121 Airline.

That’s good to hear I’ve just seen some schedules 4on/1off/4on and such so didn’t know if that was normal with regionals. Sounds like Republic is good place to be if people making good money are coming back

Do what’s right for you and your family. That’s the real answer.

To be clear, per FAR 117 you're required to have 30 hours free from duty in the past 168 hours (7 days), so while 2 back-to-back 4 days wouldn't be legal, the schedule you proposed is, provided the first trip ends early enough and/or the second trip starts late enough to ensure your 30 hours of rest. The company adds a 2-hour buffer to that for any delays when it comes to scheduling, so you're not allowed to pick up a trip if it's less than 32 hours rest and would otherwise violate 30/168.

Republic really isn't a bad place to be. Like any airline, it has things that could improve, but the overwhelming majority of pilots seem happy here. It's really rare you find anyone bitter or unpleasant. They exist, just like anywhere, but aren't common at all.

That's not a bad schedule, why did you leave that?
