But this was the case before you left republic. It helps to reach out to others that have gone through the transition.

I miss doing day trips out of DCA too but some things will always be the same in republic. Mainly, you are at the mercy of your major parters.

But not 16 days in a row. Big difference.

Without a doubt it's a trade-off, but I can totally understand how for many families the prospect of one parent being gone for more than 2 weeks at a time would be a difficult strain.

For March I work 16 days with zero day trips. However, I am only away from home 9 nights for the month. Now imagine if you bid for a few day trips in there which you can easily do if you live in base. It is definitely a better QOL especially if you have a family.

Anyone else ever been in this position or know of people that have come back from the ACMI world? Would I be making a mistake?

Thanks for any input.

Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (wet leasing)

In this case and in most cases here, used to describe larger on demand freight companies like Atlas and Kalitta....

we have schedules where if you lived in base you’d be home almost all year if you bid correctly. Just going every three months for a PC. I’ve done it two months at a time several times. Third month I bid to get 4 landings for the month. other guys who don’t live in Base spend 2-6 of their 16 days on long call at home. Not all ACMI’s are the same, just like not all regionals are alike either. Not all ACMI are freight, or freight only either. A few are even pax only.

Hopefully you didn’t pull the plug on that ACMI thing.
