Reduced flying / hiring due to Corona virus?

Any company info on reduced flying / hiring due to the corona virus? Looks like United is lowering domestic and international flying and looking for volunteers for unpaid leave.

Haven’t heard a word about any of that yet. All seems normal still (as far as I’ve heard)..

UAL will have to cut a corresponding of regional flying as a result of scope. Could be a fairly substantial cut if it is not spread out between the carriers.

I can't guarantee many things, but I can pretty much assure we won't be slowing down hiring so long as the exit door is as wide open as it is right now.

oh it’s happening for regionals due to scope on United. All the express carriers were notified today for reduced flying for month of April. Luckily you guys have more diverse flying.

if the entrance door, just beyond your exit door closes, it really doesn't matter how far open your exit door is.....

No and given past history of the other “media plagues” there won’t be any reduced flying on the regional end. If the economy is severely affected because of the sniffles then yes, you can expect a big change industry wide.

Serious question. How does the coronavirus affect scope?

UA’s scope only applies to their narrow-body aircraft. As of now they’ve only been cutting wide-body flying. If it comes down to reducing narrow-body flying I guarantee you they will find a way to temporarily replace those routes that can’t break even with an RJ. That is the point of regionals.

ohhhh Burt.... I wish you were right. Your airline has just not shared the news from United. I have seen the notification. The express brand across the board is losing flying for April. And how in the world do you thing the United ALPA would let United cut mainline flights but not regionals?
