No they didn’t. They said 40% of the company. We have no clue how many pilots will be affected.

69 of which are already on Furlough. They were the training classes they sent home with pay, then furloughed.

Where are you located??? I will reach out to the entire 2/25 class and see if anyone knows of anything. From what it sounds like, most of us went back to instructing or our old position if it was still offered. I know a couple that have yet to get a flying job again or quit looking and decided on doing something else.

Large numbers (think like 1/3 of the pilot group) on special voluntary leave which pays 50 hrs a month. Then there’s a bunch on special LCR where you are on reserve 9 days a month and guaranteed 37.5 hrs a month.

Going into phase 3 testing around July 27 with the Moderna vaccine. Volunteers who got 2 doses of the vaccine had high levels of virus-killing antibodies that exceeded the average levels seen in people who had recovered from COVID-19.

Hopefully by October this vaccine is MUCH further along and we can minimize any sort of furloughs. Really hoping this comes through.
Let me first state that I was in the medical field prior to changing careers and coming to Republic. Of course when I came to Republic I was one of the 69 First Officers who were still in training that got furloughed. After getting furloughed I volunteered in some of the COVID-19 Hospitals in New York, before returning to Flight Instructing which I am doing now.

You mention the vaccine. It is a good sign that they are having positive results with the trails they are having. But having a vaccine is not the end of this Pandemic. Having a vaccine will be helpful but as we know COVID-19 is a Coronavirus which there are many. There will always be some type of virus that might be out there that can cause a Pandemic. What we as a country and world need to know is that we have a way to slow the spread of this virus and any further viruses.

Now the question comes will the vaccine save the airline industry or even the travel industry time will tell. We will have to see if it will be mandatory for everyone to take or will it be only required for "Essential Workers" As an "Essential Worker" in a hospital when I was Physician Assistant I had to get the flu vaccine every year. Also will people feel comfortable returning to fly once the vaccine is released. I think time will tell.

Until then I think we should allow our union to try to mediate as much as they can to try to keep as many jobs as they can. The notice from the Union and Company are out. We know there are possible plans for furlough, it is now up to the company and the union to try to come to some agreement that has the least amount of impact on the workers and allows the company to survive until we come out of this Pandemic. I know I want Republic to be around and one day except me back. I don't want to be like TSA or Compass where there is no company to come back to.
