I think (for whatever that is worth) that it is really the opposite. People will not start traveling again until they can do it without being hassled about wearing these goofy masks. Granted I live in Texas, but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE I talk to, says they aren't stepping foot back on an airline until they get rid of these mask requirements.

attributed to various females in the media, but most likely a slight corruption of a comment made by Pauline Kael in the NYT.

Is this seriously a thing? Regardless of someone's opinion on the effectiveness of a mask, it keeps people traveling. How big of a dolt can a pilot be to actively protest wearing a mask right now when the public is clearly terrified to travel. Even if it means just one more person will buy a ticket, put the thing on and shut up.
And to the OP, who can't spell the name of the company correctly but is "in charge of 80 people", we get it big man, you run the show, heavy RJ driver. Just complete the compliance training and get on with your day. I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of equally qualified RJ pilots who would love to take your spot if you feel so disrespected in your big RJ role. You really felt the need to come onto your anonymous internet echo chamber to rant when you could've just knocked it out in the amount of time it took you to start this thread?

Everyone should be actively protesting this nonsense. Not just pilots. Someone has to start pushing back eventually. The public is terrified to fly for just this reason. A bunch of know nothing politicians (that includes airline management) fear mongering to an unprecedented level. Pushing masks and arbitrary rules because their first concern is your safety. Hogwash! Their first concern is pandering to whatever nonsensical woke topic is being currently pushed. It's eyewash for the sake of generating revenue. Nothing more. That's all fine and good if it preserves jobs, but don't fool yourself thinking it's anything more. And to look down on people who have enough sense to realize all this on their own just makes you one more pathetic ass happily bending over and agreeing with zero knowledge of what you're actually doing.

I understand this is more than likely a satirical troll post and I did get a good laugh out of it but believe it or not there are actually bozos out there who think like this.

I mean, we did have a pilot fired for refusing to wear a mask while nonreving on a UA flight. So the video was tailored towards those idiots, but the rest of us have to suffer. This type of thing of speaking to the lowest common denominator happens all the time in the military and all over corporate America.
No it was DL, not UA.

Some do, and in many cases it is a consequence of the CDC LYING about the effectiveness of masks back when they were trying to keep people from buying up and hoarding the n95 masks when they were in short supply and needed by both ER and ICU personnel.

so yeah, the military has an old saying, ‘order - counter-order - disorder.’ This was effed up early on.
Whoever made that brilliant move ought to be fired. They have likely killed a few people.

Standard surgical masks — the kind most people are buying and wearing — don’t help because coronavirus spreads in droplets, which surgical masks do not block, Forbes reports. In fact, surgical masks can trap droplets containing the virus inside, increasing your risk rather than reducing it.
They should only be worn by people who already have the virus to help prevent spreading it to others, Perencevich said, according to the publication.
N95 respirator masks can help keep droplets containing coronavirus or other viruses out, but only if worn correctly, Forbes reported.
“Wearing a mask is tricky because it can create a false sense of security,” Perencevich said, according to the publication. “If you don’t wash your hands before you take off the mask and after you take off your mask, you could increase your risk.”
And fiddling with the mask may cause you to touch your face more often, also increasing your risk, Forbes reported. Improperly disposed surgical or respirator masks also can risk spreading coronavirus.
The CDC instead suggests avoiding close contact with people who are sick, avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, staying home when you are sick, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

I don't believe they work well enough to warrant the damage they are doing to the economy...my daughter is 6 and started back to school in full mask/social distancing protocol...eating lunch in class, desks 6 feet apart...can't get close to each other at recess, so they stand around like a bunch of cows in a pasture...needless to say, she started back Monday and by Tuesday evening was laid out with strep throat...her teacher said that a lot of kids were coming down with it...they think it is because they are all touching their faces all day long playing with the masks...if they are getting strep, then Covid would have no problem....it's all a joke...
