Republic Interview

Well, it's finally happened...I've got the interview with Republic. I've been checking the gouges, got my Passport, FCC license, ordered a new "jet-type" headset, am about halfway through the ATP written Gleim and take daily practice tests, been flying the interview profile on our PCATD. Weird thing is, I still don't feel prepared. Thanks to all here who provided the useful information during my job search...hopefully it will turn out for the best:D

It's actually an easy interview. They want to see how solid your IFR skills and knowledge are. They want to train you to fly the aircraft not to train you IFR. They only have "X" amount of time to get you situated with the plane.

A buddy of mine was hired today. TT 1200-1300hrs and 45hrs multi.

Where did he go to school with that time in Multi-engine. Because I have 71 hours of Multi and 1220 total time and they said that I did not meet their mins!

Duck's right. The interview is not too bad at all. The gouges are a great source, and the sim profile is pretty much the same everytime.

Sounds like you're all set to me. FYI, the written test is more of an instrument written...not to say the ATP Gleim isn't a good study source, but the written at Republic will not be nearly that extensive. There's a good study guide for it on the aviationinterviews website. Good luck!

They couldn't care less about where you went to school. They just want to see that you make a good impression at the interview and you know your stuff

I say that because, sometimes they give preferential treatment to people who went to perdue and who knows were else. I have 71 hours of Multi and was never invited to the interview, however the other guy had 45 ish? and was given an interview?

DCA is another possibility. When I went through training (mins were still 1500/300) we had several DCA guys at 1000/100 running around in there. I've heard Purdue is also a possibility but no confirmation.

I'd hold off on that "jet type" headset. If you're in the 145, you're going to want a "prop type" headset cuz that thing is louder than Rosie O'Donnell at a gay rights parade.

Best of luck man.

If you want to butter them up, consider talking about the following things:
a) Profit history; know last quarter profit.. 20.4 mil if i remember correctly
b) Bryan Bedford named 2004 regional airline exec of the year
c) Chautauqua named 2004 regional airline of the year
d) Codeshare growth with F9, CAL, and Airways
e) Circle of Stars
f) Talk about your own experience riding a RAH flight
g) Company market positioning

Here is what you need to know. IN THIS ORDER.

1. IFR Oral guide(All questions, even those on the gouge, are from the IFR oral guide)
2. ATP Oral guide
3. FlightSim ILS 32, possibly 36 I can't remember, into INDY. Use a baron.
4. Systems

Just read through your systems. Don't spend the majority of your time there. I decided to read the IFR oral guide on my way up there was done in less than half the time of the rest of the guys. Simply because i had just read it all. They hired me on the spot. My friend with the 45hrs of multi did as I told him and they hired him as well. DO NOT BS ANYONE. Answer the question and smile. If Mrs. Bannister is not the one to do your oral don't sweat it. She'll call you within the next hour or so to let you know your hired. Just because they don't tell you on the spot doesn't mean to run off shakin up.

Everything else kilo mentioned might be good but isn't needed. Anything else needed she'll hand you a packet and you can find out by reading that thing the time you have before going in.

They did use to have a Purdue pref. hiring bit but have since cancled it. They weren't getting the results they were looking for. The purdue guys had excellent systems knowledge but overall were carrying something into the cockpit with them that a lot of the senior guys didn't like so they've since gone back to the practice of just going out and hiring people working for their hours that have a nice smile and firm handshake in the interview.
