Upgrade or crossgrade off this ship

hahaaa I'm not knocking B6! When I say "low hanging fruit" what I mean is, do I bail and go right seat-right seat for better pay/qol or risk the upgrade and put in my left seat time for a call from Daddy D/AA/United for even better pay/qol (debatable, yes). Yes, for much of 2022 the quicker path to the big 3 was sidestepping to a ULCC seeing as some calls were made and our CA's weren't getting interviews as much as in early '22. But word on street was that side door action was getting shut down and I've heard of legacies wanting to see some PIC time again. not just a 320 type and non-employment at their associated regional

When I was sitting right seat at CHQ for 7 years I flew with a CA that was on his way to JetBlue and I remember feeling like he had just gotten a call from Pan Am in 1965. Crazy how quickly things have changed.
The worst thing that can happen to you if you go to Spirit or JetBlue is you get stuck at Spirit or JetBlue (or I guess just JetBlue now). Not very long ago these were considered destination/career airlines for many.
People have been saying that RAH is circling the drain for at least a decade and somehow they're still around. But maybe this time it's for real, who knows. But it has always, always, always been a gamble staying at a regional/commuter longer than you absolutely have to.

Regional vs. Fractional
former military pilot here, with brief post-mil commercial tours at a fractional and Part 121 (NWA FE) before permanent furlough left me flying a desk for the last 20 years; hoping to return to airlines for late/last career change. If direct to LCC is unattainable, debating whether to start with a Regional or a Fractional. A key factor I'm considering is being happy with the prospect of staying there "permanently" (7-8 years in my case now) if it becomes necessary should this hiring pendulum suddenly swing back the other way for some reason. I remember the schedule grind of the Fractional world, but at least there was a pleasant variety of routes/destinations. Threads like this are very helpful to better appreciate the grind of the Regional world. Thank you.

2023 regional pilot problems jeez. There was something nice years ago about not having any option other than the regional that hired you, might have even been one that flew jets. That great feeling of just lucky to have an airline job. You kind of hunkered down knowing no major would hire you unless you had like 5 year experience at minimum and then you made the best of what you had and you appreciate it too. It’s just human psychology, too many choices lead to none. I also have some bad news for you, if you don’t enjoy the flying you’re doing now, LGA to CLE etc, you ain’t gonna like the flying you do at the next level, probably even more boring lol

According to the latest market planning podcast, our numbers of Captains AND FOs has continued to decrease. We have about 1200 FOs and 900 CAs. There's no estimate as to when the numbers may be rebalanced as we continue to lose CAs as quickly as we make them. LOA 9 (DECs and no-fly line) hasn't really made a dent in the problem.
For anyone looking at Republic, this is likely the case at every regional, we aren't special.
