Going to AA

If you have a hard on for AA for some reason, go work at a competitor’s regional such as Endeavor. Easier to get picked up (usually) than some regional flying for everyone.

This guy has started several threads on all kinds of topics and I think shopping around for which regional to start with.

Go read all the threads since 2019 in each subsection of the airlines you’re interested in. Those will really help you get a clearer picture of the environment post Covid. In one post you said a previous thread was too long and you didn’t want to read it so you just posted a question that has already been answered. Dedicate a some time to educate yourself and you’ll find people are more willing to answer the questions you have that are left over after you’ve already done the research. That’s usually done by posting in an existing thread about a topic.

Thank you for your feedback! I’m still trying to get the hang of forms and the proper etiquette. You’re talking about that Atlas thread that had 19,000 replies, i read some i just didn’t know where to start from and I was joking about I don’t want to read them lol😅. Again I really appreciate your feedback
First, the above poster who said don't overcomplicate the process is right, which applies to both applying to airlines and posting or forums. Believe it or not, all posters were new once.
Second, if AA is your end goal (come on in, the water is fine!) I'd also agree with not going to work for a regional that provides feed to AA. Completely annecdotal, but most airlines are not in the habit of cannibalizing their own feed. The one wildcard that I'll throw out there are the AA WOs should some sort of integration with AA happen in the future, but that doesn't seem to be on the radar and I wouldn't suggest using that idea as career planning.
Lastly, once you've done that, apply to a LCC. LOTS of those guys in Legacy new hire classes all across the country these days. In fact, apply there in concert with the regionals. You never know.
Good luck.

Just out of curiosity, why do airlines like to hire from other airlines WO? I feel they can benefit more from their own pilots (i can be completely off though)

Thank you! I’m hearing that ULCCs are hiring people once they reach their 1500hr I just don’t how accurate that is. I appreciate your response!

Airlines target the competitions WO while keeping their own WO pilots in place as long as possible. As far as AAG is concerned you already work for them when you work for a WO. Unless you’ve got some unique characteristic to make you desireable at mainline, you’ll likely wait your turn (which no matter how much they say the flow will be increasing… is still going to be 7+ years).
