Signing this agreement is a terrible idea. It’s not really a 3 year agreement…you are not released from liability until you have served at least 2 years as a Captain. If upgrades were to stop for whatever reason, you’d be locked-in indefinitely and bound by a non-compete which restricts you from flying with any other 121 carrier. Sorry, this industry is too unpredictable. The juice is not worth the squeeze, JUST SAY NO kids!!!
this is a desperate act to hold on to pilots without any flow or hope other than with Republic. They will be out of business as a regional feed in 2 years and end up being a training company.

Am I seriously the only person that feels that if someone signs this they deserve exactly what they get. It’s like the student loan thing, if you sign a contract then read it first and be prepared to abide by it because it’s a freakin contract for heavens sake. Is it stupid? YES. Is it everything that’s wrong with RAH? Absolutely, but it’s not like you don’t have the opportunity to read it first and then to not sign it if you aren’t going to abide by the terms. Sadly I am afraid there are plenty of young people who will sign it, cash the check then beg their parents, a lawyer or the government to get them out of it. Yes it’s a terrible thing RAH is doing so don’t freakin sign it. Have some personal integrity. JMO and rant over

Being from Envoy, there's usually a fair amount of (mostly) healthy back and forth with Republic acquaintances both on the boards and in real life.
That being said, I'd take this new development as a massive red flag and a pressing motivation to gtfo. Stating the obvious, I'm sure, but this can't be a good sign.

But seriously...who will be the next to make newhires sign a contract?

And no, the demise of Republic would not be a godsend to other regionals. Do you seriously think the CAs at Republic would STAY in the regionals if they lost the “golden handcuffs” of their current pay and seniority? To be a DEC - to start again at the very bottom of the seniority list and watch every FO hired before them leapfrog over them for years? When even Delta is now waiving their 1000 hrs of turbine time to only a preference?
Nope. The regionals are dying. Get in and get out as quickly as you can be hired somewhere better. Or skip them altogether if you can. LC/ULCC, ACMI,Part 135, even Part 91 turbo jobs are out there, you just have to hustle for them.

The regional model can't die fast enough.

I don't disagree with you. But I imagine waiving that 1,000 hours isn't going to result in any meaningful changes to new hire class composition when Delta, American, and United insist that the bulk (~80%) of their hiring come from everywhere BUT the regionals.
The regional model can't die fast enough.
The regional model can't die fast enough.
And why is it that the regional model can't die fast enough? This should be interesting....
