Default DEC do or don’t

Just wanting to get the ‘skinny’ on the DEC program at Republic. I have a zoom interview coming up real soon and before I wasted anyone’s time, mine included, I wanted to hear from anyone that has gone the DEC route or may have the good and bad information. If you would like to share your experience with me please PM or leave here…..

Thanks, just trying to make an educated decision!

Cheers!

DEC will be challenging to at least some degree, varies by company, fleet, and prior experience.

Best if you have prior 121, and are current flying something (not necessarily 121).

Going DEC at a regional, be warned that every FO currently on the property will be senior to you as they upgrade, so better live near a base to sit forever reserve.
FYI, I think Breeze is still looking for DECs…new A220s with a lot of growth, new higher pay rates and possibly stock awards…
BTW, Living near a junior base will make life easier wherever you go.

Just go DEC at a major like breeze rather then a regional. Why sit reserve for years?

If you think that is the missing piece making you hirable at a Lagacy then do it, especially if you live in a RPA base. As a CA you will get TPIC hours quick. Right now the main goal should be to get to your forever airline as quick as you can no matter how much short-term pain it creates. We are already cresting the hiring wave.

If you got the time for Breeze, you got the time for Spirit/Frontier. I’d take right seat at those two over a company like Breeze with somewhat questionable odds of lasting through a potential steep recession that we have looming on the horizon.

My point was, Republic would be one of the last places I would go as a DEC. I would even go Breeze before going to Republic at this point… Of course, if ULCCs called, I would go and not look back also.
