A few day to day Republic questions
 
I'd be really grateful if I could get some answers to a few of these questions.

- Do you guys have ship sets, or do you carry your own charts?
- What's the minimum line value you can bid for? Can you bid a 60 hour line?
- What travel benefits do you get on the RW certificate? Do you get United benefits even if you're not on the Q?
- Any international commuters over there? Do you have a commuter clause?
- What's the sick policy?

I'd really appreciate some straight answers to these questions. I'm aware of the situation regarding the contract and that is very much in my consideration. I'm just trying to get a complete picture of life at Republic.

No ship sets. The company is too cheap. In fact, they have just one Jepp subscription for all F9, Republic, Shuttle, and Chautauqua. So, basically our bags are so heavy they sometimes exceed the limitation for the bag well in the airplane, and my bag personally is so overstuffed, I about need two.

Min guarantee is 75 hours and you'll never see anything below that if holding a line. The company aims for 82.

Just F9 (for now) and US Air (which we now have to pay for) if you're in a US Air base. No United benefits unless on the Q400 (rumor has it that might change though)

We have a commuter clause: You may use twice in 6 months, must have listed and checked in for two flights getting in before show time, and if you use it, you still have to continue to try commuting to wherever they need you.

Sick policy is "non-punitive", but if you call in sick too many times you get fired. (8 in a year)


Unless you live in one of our 'stable' bases, I just wouldn't recommend this place.

So what's the deal with days off? Does your PBS build everybody a min 12 day off line, or is it possible to see 14+ days off a month?

Just want to ask for a quick clarification on this. Travel Benefits are based on your certificate? And what are you defining as travel benefits? Are they not part of CASS and can jumpseat on any CASS participant? Or are we talking like ZED fares on other operators?

Depends on how crappy they build the schedules that month. Some bases have had just twelve days off for everyone in base.

Why would you want to leave XJT for a place like RAH? You think things are bad at XJT, then RAH will be a rude awaking for you.

I'm on the Republic cert and have benefits on Airways, F9 and United. Everyone no matter the cert will have UA bennies. Most have them already but don't know it. Company has issues N numbers but hasn't announced it yet.

ZED fares on most carriers and yes, CASS on everyone.

Yes, Travel is based on what certificate and base you are on. If your base does flying for a codeshare partner then you will have travel for yourself, dependents, and parents on that codeshare.

Now as far as the possible combinations that's been posted before in other threads so use the search function.

One thing to note, Republic just became a ZED member of its own accord so we no longer have access to ZED agreements from our major codeshare partners. Right now we only have ZED agreements with about 30 airlines... Some include JetBlue, Spirit, US, AA, UA, Condor...that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Finally, yes we have CASS and yes you can jumpseat but that is not the same as nonreving

Not sure I agree with this. Right now, we only have zed fares for a few airlines that are listed on myidtravel. If they aren't listed there we don't have zeds on them as of 8 April. Travel benefits are based on your base, certificate and equipment. So I'm on the RW certificate, based in DEN (which does UA flying on the Q), yet I don't have United or US Air Benefits. I have F9 only, and zeds via website above. So it's a little more convoluted than previously stated.

Some guys have privileges on multiple carriers, some guys have nothing except the useless F9 privileges (yes useless) even if you live in the hub.

Also, while you can bid for specific days off, the company does not honor days off bid in a RSV bid. So if you are on RSV, you get the schedule and days off the company feels like handing out. And yes we have 5-6 year FOs still on RSV.
