Republic Q400 maneuver at DCA

From a former q400 pilot the maneuver that you guys did in dca today was nothing but beautiful. I was very impressed and made me miss take the big bird out and putting her through her paces. Very impressed.

Just sayin'.

Hmmm my English is not so good looking today :-). I am giving guys credit where credit Is do the guys did a different version of the river visual to 19 in dc and I was impressed. Sorry that in stead of being a dick I decided to reach out and say good job sorry.

Pilottim79 11-11-2014 03:23 PM

Just past the touchdown zone and on the right half of the runway.

Apparently we can just tells stories with no details so I'm going with this one!

No one had any idea what you were trying to say... Proof read.

Well.... I guess I've lost the ability to be so impressed with an approach that is done all the time, that I would take the time out to make a post about it. Must have been epic /shrug.

mooney 11-11-2014 03:54 PM

I'm guessing they were in a -4G inverted dive with a MiG 28 while they flew the approach.

Keeping up foreign relations?

BlueMoon 11-11-2014 04:50 PM

Did they not land in a crab?

billyho 11-12-2014 02:32 AM

It's nice when departing 15 and they ask for a really tight right turn so they can launch a jet off 19 right behind you. I think the Tower guys get a kick out of watching us buzz them. Usually followed by "OUTSTANDING!" contact departure.

Pilotdude3407 11-12-2014 03:35 AM

I would venture to guess that he is referring to a right turn out off runway 1. The dashes do it all the time and the Jets will do it if they are super light. I've done it 10 or 12 times over 7 years when we would go to PHL. Our company has come out and said they don't want us doing it since our single engine performance is based on a left turn up the river. Evidently they could pay aerodata a boatload of cash to get data but don't want to. Go figure.

crzepilot 11-12-2014 03:59 AM

What is the "different'" version of the river visual?

terryhflyer 11-12-2014 04:04 AM

Republic Q400 maneuver at DCA

They come up the river from the other side and do a left turn to final. It is very impressive to watch.

gijoe411 11-12-2014 04:28 AM

Oh, yea, 19 approaching from the east, it's a *very* tight turn to final because you have to stay clear of the prohibited areas. fun stuff.

I remember my first beer.

Geardownflaps30 11-12-2014 07:17 AM

do, doo, due

So important to get the spelling correct...

BE19Pilot 11-13-2014 09:04 AM

The "other" River visual is the Mount Vernon Visual...

eschukos 11-13-2014 03:04 PM

I think he is referring to the anacostia river visual approach...
