That says enough right there.

I was referring to the content and requirement of certification not the organization. A federal A&P is a lot easier to get than a state issued plumbing certificate. I wont debate the results of aircraft maintenance, they are good enough for most people. I did find the career to be a dirty dead end job unless you can bill customers directly. Then its a different kind of dirty. Aviation maintenance is more than a dark cloud, its a black hole! Stay away!

No. The fact that labor negotiations are in play is all that really needs be said.

LOL so who’s the conspiracy theorist after all?

You choose not to believe factual investigations with multiple people putting their name and career at risk by coming forward. You would rather make up some baseless accusation that defends ‘your’ individual perspective, which we already determined is vastly skewed from reality due to your military brainwashing, instead of believing facts.

Your baseless accusation conspiracy theory doesn’t hold water due to the fact that publicly defaming a business is a HUGE criminal offence. If these guys came forward (multiple ones putting their face and names out there) and falsified evidence/claims with the intent to gain an advantage during collective bargaining, they would have bigger issues than worrying about the security of their career.

Define what a “conspiracy theorist” is?

Because everything is for profit. Any discussion on just about any subject, including those involving life and death, begin and end with the economics of it.
This is one of the deepest pathologies of our culture.

The line between Govt., especially elected officials, and the private sector is largely invisible. While in theory any regulatory agency works for the public good, in practice they have to answer to higher ups who have heavy influence from large capital. It is usually the small business types in just about any endeavor who endure most of the regulatory pressure. Partly because they have fewer resources to fight back with, and partly because of the power wielded by the larger companies that compete with the little guys.

As long as Capital has the power/influence that it currently has, there will be little change beyond cosmetic.

The problem is that the alternative is to give the power to (self elected) people who's motivations are not primarily money... those kind of people generally suck at managing an economy and eventually get around to establishing police states and wholesale mass murder to retain their power. That naturally further depresses the economy... but all for the good of the people of course.

While there's a relationship between money and power, the money game is generally a lot more enjoyable for all concerned than the power game. With capitalism you can still have some "socialist like" protections built into the system so it's not too hard on the losers. But it's not practical to make everyone the same... the winners need an incentive to put in the effort to win.

Communism was a neat theory in 1850, it was tried and failed miserably due to the fundamental nature of power, and human nature. No need to try again any time soon. PRC is the best example, but it's still a totalitarian state with clear winners and losers.

Rick, you are not a dumb guy. Don't do what so often happens when any comments outside what is generally accepted by making them "either/or".
While you did throw out the concept of some "socialist like" type protections in a capitalist economy, you did what people often times do regarding any criticism of the staus quo: you jumped to the extreme of a full communist society with all the horrors of the soviet union. Making changes to our current system is not the same as advocating communism.

That said, some things don't lend themselves to a profit driven system.
Health care and any attempts/ideas to keep the environment healthy enough to support a society come to mind.

For a significant percentage, perhaps the majority, of the US population, the current system does not serve them well. Either we figure out a way to lessen the power of Corporations/Capital(call it what you will) or we will fall victim to it.
