Some can't seem to focus.

This was a Boeing 737-800 Max, operated by a third world ab initio crew, one of whom was woefully under-experienced and underqualified. This was not a ship. This did not strike an iceberg. liferafts were not involved. The certification standards for transport category aircraft cannot in any way be compared to shipbuilding standards in the early 1900's.

The titanic crew did not accelerate past 500 knots and ensure that their ship was uncontrollable in the air.

Do you understand the concept of the straw man?

Focus.

This aircraft, as presently decertified;
1. Unsafe at any speed
2. Costliest builder tort in history
3. Needs a new name

Don't worry, I'm on the ignore list.

Funny you feel able to speak for the "rest of the world" when you have trouble simply speaking for yourself.

"Cooler heads" would not have flown this airplane into the ground at T/O power past VMO/MMO while trying to repeatedly activate the autopilot and ignoring the trained procedure by reactivating the trim system.

So clearly your last sentence doesn't apply here either.

Send your “clear understanding” to Boeing and the FAA ASAP and get this ban lifted They grounded this thing after the ET crash.

The FAA is in the back seat now. They know a uniform lifting of the ban is the only viable option. Europe, China, and India are huge customers and until their regulatory authorities are satisfied, the ban will stay in place. Apparently they’re looking not only at the software fix but also if additional sim training is required for the MAX. That would be a big blow for Boeing. Ironic, considering their every action was based on getting this thing certified without any additional sim training for NG guys.

Looks like that ex-Boeing test pilot at SWA has lawyered up.

It will get sorted out eventually.

And hopefully will set an improved culture for any future design certification process.

Someone failed to comprehend the concept of the Joint Authorities Technical Review (JTAR, for millennials), as previously given in detail.

So no, not a good post in the least. A wrong post. Again.

No, says the post you quoted (I don't see that poster now, as it's on the ignore list), which you said is a "good post." It's not. It's very wrong, for reasons which have previously been posted, with supporting links. The poster is wrong. He clearly does not know about or understand the JATR.

As you think it's a good post, apparently neither do you.

Why is he on the ignore list ? Because he disagrees with you ? I read a great article in the WSJ last week , recounting how crews in the sim , check airmen ,even knowing the failure was coming still ended up vertical as the system kicked in again , and again. It was a fair and balanced account . No one threw rocks at the crews , indeed the AA check airman interviewed conducted himself with humility . You should try a wee bit of humility, you weren’t there , the final report when it comes should shed light on the myriad issues involved in this tragedy , we are still in early innings , and this thread is just so much white noise . There but for the grace of God could go any of us . I’ve said my bit , Cheers out.

Not remotely so. You haven't read the thread, have you?

There you go. Wallstreet Journal. No need to go further than that.

Of course, you might try reading the actual report, linked in this thread (that you haven't read) and educate yourself a bit on what actually happened.
