Defrauding federal regulators is a felony. If Boeing can pin this on their employees, and they just hired the experts in doing exactly this, they can substantially reduce their civil liability.

You lied, then. No criminal charges. You can neither cite them, nor the law, and made it up based on your uneducated guess of what might happen in your fantasy world. That's all you really needed to say.

Like I said - they made it smaller several generations ago. Requires more leverage. Maybe it should have an electric motor you can engage when it’s impossible to move manually. Oh wait ...

My idea: pop-out bicycle pedals. You can get more leverage with your legs and the average pilot has beefy calves from running for their commute.

Provide the link for the evidence of false statement, another for the charges, and cite the specific law.

You're still lying, but now attempting to defend the lie.

There are no criminal charges. You lied.

Lying to the FBI is a federal crime. That's what Martha Stewart went to jail for. In the Boeing case the FBI is doing a criminal investigation into the certification process. Anyone accused of lying to the FBI would have to be charged and convicted in court (or plead guilty) in order to be sentenced. No one has been charged with anything as yet, as far as I can tell. Anyone interviewed by the FBI, and there will at least be two of them, should have their own lawyer, not only Boeing's lawyer, present and record the meeting. Had General Flynn done the same he would likely not be in any trouble today.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/26/polit...law/index.html

New flaw discovered with the MAX, a failure of the microprocessor.

When testing the potential failure of the microprocessor in the simulators, "it was difficult for the test pilots to recover in a matter of seconds," one of the sources said. "And if you can't recover in a matter of seconds, that's an unreasonable risk."

Why can't test pilots recover using the stab trim runaway procedure in a matter of seconds?

Maybe because the manual trim wheel doesn't work? Just speculating of course, as I don't fly it.
