So long as trump keeps stirring the international trade political pot, we'll see this sort of crap. "Grounding" these aircraft had far more to do with politics than safety.

Any of several nations which sell airliners (or hope to do so soon) have an incentive to drag out the drama (at least a little bit) to degrade the Boeing brand.

Boeing and FAA degraded the brand themselves through this Max 8 certification process and allowed an unsafe plane to fly. MCAS is a kludge however you want to debate it. FAA should have never allowed this plane to get off the ground in the first place.

It's certainly a stumbling block for the incompetent.

For any flyer worth his or her weight in wet salt, it's not a problem.

It's easy to tell the difference from one's response to the matter. Those who think it's a real problem....it shows, but it says a lot more about the observer than either the FAA or Boeing.

I think that' pretty obvious. Doesn't mean others won't leverage the dramatic affect.

Reality is that we have a different definition of "competent" than most of the rest of the world. Boeing needs to figure out who they're selling airplanes to.

..Agreed..Like I said earlier, Boeing has just recently found out, that a single system malfunction (in some parts of the world) will bring the plane down..What next ??

Fly safe,

A single system malfunction didn't. It took pilots to do that.

The pilots flew it right out of the envelope and drove it into the ground. Nothing is designed for that.

Now it is President Trumps fault, haha.
For years redundancy has been a aviation standard and for some unknown reason Boeing decided to undo that. If the AOA sensor had not failed or the MCAS system had not been on only one AOA the crash would not have happened. Single pount failures are bad and should be avoided in aviation when possible.
Also, I have seen many a widebody aircrew mess up a runaway trim or unreliable airspeed problem in the sim and sometimes go out of the normal flight envelope.
As someone has said it was not a simple one presentation problem, nor a constant runaway. Yes, hopefully a crew will rise to the occasion but two crews did not so maybe it was not a simple as you think.
