Ferrying 737 MAX-8 - engine failure (MCO)

Apparently a flight crew ferrying a SWA 737-MAX-8 from MCO to somewhere in Cali lost an engine just after take off:

Probably had nothing to do with MCAS. The latest generation of ultra-efficient engines push the boundaries of technology more, and they also seem to fail more often than the turbofans I grew up with. Not unique to Boeing either.

Well did they find it?

I think Kalitta lost an engine once... found it at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

I remember that one because I saw the plane in DTW after they diverted, minus the one motor. Just assumed it was a MX swap at the time.

The rear mount broke and the back of the engine dropped down and the thrust sent it up and over the wing.
One fell off a DC-8 once as well. Landed on a farmers property in Coloado if I remember correctly.

Seem to recall an American 727 had #1 or #3 fall off. Ring a bell?

AMR191. DC-10 out of ORD had its left engine separate on takeoff due to bad MX procedures resulting in a loss of all SOB.

#3. Report said blue-juice was building up on a vent and made an ice-ball. When said ice-ball broke fee, it went down #3 and destroyed a bunch of blades.

Out of balance condition tore the engine out of its mounts!

I think this was in 1999.

Yes, it was in 1985.
