Norwegian Air 787 Engine Fail

Norwegian Air 787 shelled-out the left engine taking off from Rome.

Debris, mostly hand sized, fell and damaged cars.

Looks like turbine blades to me....

Landed uneventfully, but makes you wonder if there may be an over-reaction to inspect engines.

I haven't heard anything about Norwegian lately. Are they still in business?

The RR engines are problematic with fan blade corrosion and oil seal issues. Many early RR equipped 787’s are or have been etops restricted for that reason.
